White terrorists kill hundreds

Tis the season to kill…

Just hours after Israeli President Shimon Peres insisted his nation had no plans to ignite a war in the Gaza Strip and urged Arab nations to appoint “peace envoys” for the crisis, the Israeli military launched an unprecedented attack on the Gaza Strip.

The attack, dubbed “Operation Cast Lead” by the Israeli military after a Hanukkah poem, targeted police stations across the strip, killing Hamas security officials (reportedly including police chief Major-General Tawfik Jaber) and nearby civilians. The toll at present count was 205 killed and 300 wounded, according to a Hamas spokesman.

The attacks are expected to continue, with Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak vowing “the operation will last as long as necessary” and promising to widen the campaign from its already enormous scale. Barak labeled the police stations hit “terrorism infrastructure” and claimed that over 150 of those killed were Hamas militants.

Hamas remained defiant after the killings, insisting “all options are open” for retaliation against Israel. Palestinian protesters staged demonstrations against the attacks in the West Bank, while Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for “this aggression to stop immediately.” There are also reports of protests from Arabs inside Israel. Hamas fired at least 25 rockets in retaliation for the attacks, killing one Israeli civilian and wounding four others.

President Hosni Mubarak also hit out at the “Israeli military aggression.” In response to the massive casualties in a strip virtually bereft of medicine after months of lockdown, the Egyptian government has opened the Rafah border crossing to allow the wounded in for medical treatment.

The United States condemned Hamas in the wake of the attacks, but declined to criticize the Israeli strikes. They did, however, encourage Israel to avoid civilian casualties, a difficult matter in the densely populated strip. Israel has said they will mount an “emergency international public relations campaign” to gain international support for the attack.

White man attacks woman with body fluids

Classy guy huh

hamillpaulthomas_t600

A Delray Beach man has been accused of dumping bodily fluids on his girlfriend during an argument at a Stuart gas station, according to a report released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Paul Thomas Hamill, 43, has been charged with simple battery and is being held in the Martin County Jail without bond.

According to the report, Hamill and the victim were in the parking lot of Sunoco in the 4500 block of Southeast U.S. 1 at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday when they began arguing about the victim’s mother.

Hamill became enraged, according to the report, and poured a container of his own urine on the victim’s hair and clothes. The victim told deputies Hamill poured enough urine that he “saturated” her, according to the report.

The victim responded by pouring red wine on Hamill and then calling law enforcement, according to the report.

Hamill told deputies he keeps his urine in a plastic container to avoid having to find a restroom, according to the report. He was arrested at the scene.

He is being held in Martin County Jail on $2,500 bond.

‘Santa’ gunman kills several, kills self

The white man who stole Christmas…

Santa Shooting

COVINA, Calif. – A man dressed as Santa who had been having marital problems opened fire at a Christmas party, leaving more than three people dead in a home that then caught fire, authorities said.

Hours later, police found the body of the suspect, Bruce Jeffrey Pardo, 45, at the home of his brother early Thursday in the Sylmar area of Los Angeles. Police said he killed himself but would not say how.

“He was going through some type of marital problems, and we believe that this residence is a relative’s residence,” Lt. Pat Buchanan said of the house that burned.

Police initally said three people were dead in the shootings and fire late Wednesday. Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said Thursday that investigators sifting through the ashes of the house found “several” more bodies, but would not say how many.

The bodies were too badly burned to immediately determine whether they died in the shootings or the fire, Winter said. “We have multiple bodies inside,” Winter said. “They’re extremely charred and burned.”

The gunman arrived at the party in Covina late Wednesday and immediately opened fire with a handgun, Buchanan said. Witnesses told police that the man took off the Santa suit and left the scene of the burning house in street clothes.

Winter said the search through the destroyed home would take at least until the end of the day.

Jan Gregory, a neighbor, said about 25 people were at the party when the gunshots rang out and people started running by the house.

She said she saw a teenage boy run from the house screaming, “They shot my family.”

Buchanan says three other people were injured. A woman in her 20s and an 8-year-old girl had gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening, and a third person had a broken ankle.

Police received several 911 calls with reports of shots fired at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night, and were still hearing gunshots after they arrived and found the house in flames, Buchanan said.

At first, firefighters were held back by police because shots were still being fired, though it may have been ammunition burning in the blaze, fire Captain Mike Brown said.

Firefighters had extinguished the blaze by about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, fire Captain Mike Brown said.

The two-story home on a cul-de-sac was destroyed in Covina, a quiet suburb 25 miles east of Los Angeles.

“This neighborhood is really quiet,” said Jeffrey Barrientos, who lives half a block from the house that burned. Barrientos said the neighborhood’s residents were mostly retirees and elderly people.

Police: Dallas shooting suspect is White ex-Utah trooper

To protect and serve?

Standoff Shooting

DALLAS – A man suspected in a series of rush-hour shootings near Dallas is a former Utah state trooper wanted on burglary and robbery warrants who apparently shot himself after a standoff with police, authorities said Tuesday.

Brian Smith, 37, killed at least one of the victims of Monday’s shootings, police Lt. Craig Miller said. Investigators linked Smith to a killing in Dallas by matching the bullets found at the standoff, he said.

“We feel safe in saying (Smith) … was the shooter,” Miller said.

Dallas police declined to comment on a second death in neighboring Garland, where the standoff took place, because it was out of their jurisdiction.

Garland police spokesman Joe Harn said his department has not been able to make a definitive connection between Smith and the killing there, but he acknowledged that Smith fit the description of the highway shooter: a balding, 40ish white man.

“We certainly hope it is him,” Harn said. “But we are going to have to see more concrete evidence.”

Two people were shot and killed and another was injured by broken glass in four shootings along or near a Dallas-area highway Monday evening. Police believe the victims were selected at random.

Smith was in critical condition Tuesday night at a Dallas hospital from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said he shot himself in the head early Tuesday morning after a brief standoff more than six hours after the shooting spree ended.

Smith had been a Utah state trooper since 1996 but retired in May because of “personal issues,” said Sgt. Jeff Nigbur, a spokesman for the Utah Department of Public Safety.

The crime spree appears to have begun in Garland, where a man police identified as Smith jumped over a pharmacy counter at a grocery store and stole OxyContin pills.

Minutes later, the first shooting happened in Garland when a driver pulled up alongside a small Nissan stopped at a red light and began shooting, Harn said. The Nissan’s driver, 20-year-old Jorge “George” Lopez of Rowlett, was killed.

Minutes later on the same highway, a gunman shot and killed 42-year-old William Scott Miller, the driver of a United Van Lines rig, Miller said. Police said the driver, who was about to fly home to his wife and two young daughters in Frankfort, Ky., for the holidays, was able to bring his truck safely to a stop before he died.

“The act he did in and of itself I consider to be heroic,” Miller said. “Despite being mortally wounded, he was able to control his rig to the point where other drivers weren’t injured.”

After the shooting of Miller, another semitrailer was fired upon a half-mile away on the same interstate. The driver, 46-year-old Gary Roberts, was injured by debris and glass but not struck by any bullets. His right eye was hit by shattered glass and he needed several stitches in his fingers, said Bedford Wilhite, who works with Roberts at Dugan Truck Line.

Roberts is home recuperating after being treated at a hospital, Wilhite said. Roberts, who has worked for Dugan for about a year, told Wilhite he is “much blessed and thankful to be alive.”

Cops go after Grandparents in Caylee Anthony murder case

Should whites be licensed to have children given the amount of  violence these poor kids are subjected to?

8_27_cayleewbook

Florida investigators on Saturday finished searching the site where Caylee Anthony’s remains were found, but their work wasn’t over — as they executed a new search warrant to collect evidence at the home of Caylee’s grandparents home late Saturday afternoon.

The search warrant was obtained based on evidence gathered over the past several days at the wooded area near the home where the remains were found Dec. 11. Authorities confirmed Friday that the remains belonged to the girl, who was 2 years old when she disappeared in June.

Her mother, Casey Anthony, 22, is in jail, charged with her murder.

The Orange County Sheriff’s officially cleared the wooded area Saturday. At the same time, four vans carrying crime scene investigators showed up at the Anthony’s home, blocking the street, as the investigators strung yellow tape to keep back the dozens of onlookers who have come to express their condolences to the family.

After two hours, the investigators came out of the home with bags and boxes containing unknown items.

Despite identifying Caylee’s remains, authorities still haven’t been able to confirm through forensic evidence how she died, though they have pointed to other evidence in pinning the girl’s death on the mother.

The coroner who identified a child’s skeletal remains as those of the little girl said the condition of the bones would make it difficult to determine the cause of death.

There was virtually no soft tissue discovered with the skeleton, though there was hair. Orange County Medical Examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia said toxicology tests being done weren’t likely to shed much light on how the girl died.

Who’s Who in the Caylee Anthony Homicide Case

There were no broken bones and no signs of trauma, further confounding investigators — and potentially posing a problem for the prosecution in building a case against Casey Anthony.

“They are not intact. They are all disarticulated. They are completely skeletonized,” Garavaglia said Friday. She said some of the bones were “tiny.”

Anthony is jailed without bond in her daughter’s murder but has pleaded not guilty.

Garavaglia on Friday said an autopsy concluded that the skull and bones found by a county utility worker were Caylee’s and the child was the victim of a homicide.

The girl was two months shy of her third birthday when she vanished in June.

The medical examiner said Caylee’s remains, which were found not far from the home where she lived with her mother and maternal grandparents, were identified through nuclear DNA analysis.

The news capped a five-month search for the girl, who was last seen in mid-June but wasn’t reported missing by her mother for more than 30 days.

“The bottom line is, no child should have to go through this,” said an emotional Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary on Friday.

The case has garnered intense national attention and media scrutiny.

The FBI said there wasn’t any indication the child was taken out of the Orlando area where she lived.

“At no time did we find any evidence that this young child left this location,” said Tampa FBI Special Agent Steven Ibison.

Casey Anthony’s lead attorney Jose Baez said he is “disappointed” with the handling of the investigation, which he called “unprofessional.”

He declined to comment on how his client reacted to the news that her daughter was found dead.

“This is her private moment. This is her life,” he said Friday. “It’s not my place as her attorney to disclose her private moments to the public. I’m sure that’s what she would want.”

Caylee’s grandparents Cindy and George Anthony were “grieving deeply” in private, their attorney Brad Conway told the Orlando Sentinel.

“This is a tragic moment in the lives of good and honorable people,” he said.

Ahead of the announcement, Florida police released evidence photos from the scene where the remains were found. One showed a picture book discovered in the woods that the child had been photographed reading before she vanished.

The book is among numerous pieces of evidence Orange County Sheriff’s deputies say they found in the wooded area where Caylee’s remains turned up.

Also Friday, police re-interviewed a county water meter reader who earlier this month discovered the bag with the child’s skull and bones inside.

Detectives said the worker is not a suspect in her death.

The worker who found the bones on Dec. 11 had called in a tip to police on three consecutive days in August, telling them to look in the same area for the remains.

“Back in August of this year, I had previously reported … that I had spotted something suspicious, a bag, in the same area,” said the meter reader, Roy Kronk, reading from a prepared statement Friday.

He wouldn’t elaborate.

“I will continue to cooperate fully with the investigation,” Kronk told reporters. “I respectively decline to get into the details of what I saw at the crime scene.”

His attorney, David Evans, called Kronk a “concerned citizen” and lambasted media speculation that suggested otherwise.

“He has no connection whatsoever to this case or to the Anthony family,” Evans said.

There is now an internal probe under way within the police department into how the matter was handled.

“There are a lot of questions about the thoroughness of that response,” Orange County Sheriff’s Capt. Angelo Nieves told MyFOXOrlando.com.

Caylee vanished on or around June 16, less than two months before her third birthday. Her family reported her missing in mid-July. Her mother has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, aggravated manslaughter and other charges.

Anthony and her defense team have maintained that she last saw Caylee when she left her with a baby sitter named Zenaida Gonzalez in an apartment complex parking lot. Anthony’s lawyers say Gonzalez and another woman drove away with the child.

Anthony and her attorneys say they believe Caylee was killed by her kidnappers.

Police claim that story and the sitter are fictitious and Anthony has lied to them repeatedly.

Court overturns Middlesex murder conviction

So dismembering his girlfriend and boiling her head part of self-defense as well ?

mxhead15 Sapone

The state Supreme Court today reversed the first-degree murder conviction of a South River man who is serving a life term for the shooting death of his girlfriend in 1998.

The high court ruled 5-2 that trial errors prevented George Jenewicz, 54, from presenting a case of self-defense to the jury and ordered that he receive a new trial.

Jenewicz was sentenced to life in New Jersey State Prison in 2002 for fatally shooting his live-in girlfriend, Eunice Gillens-Joseph, 42, on Oct. 28, 1998, then dismembering her body. Police found the victim’s head boiling in a pot on the stove and her limbs discarded in a nearby park. He was also convicted of weapons possession and hindering his own apprehension.

During the trial, Jenewicz’s defense attempted to argue Gillens-Joseph’s death was self-defense. Jenewicz said on the day of the shooting, he used money to purchase alcohol instead of cocaine and upon learning of his action, Gillens-Joseph reached for a shotgun she kept in a bedroom. At that point, the defense contended, Jenewicz pulled a handgun from a dresser drawer and shot her in self-defense.

The high court found Jenewicz was not permitted to present evidence in Middlesex Superior Court that Gillens-Joseph was prone to violent outbursts due to cocaine abuse and had threatened him with a shotgun.

“When assessing whether defendant has received a fair trial, we must consider the impact of trial error on defendant’s ability to fairly to present his defense, and not just excuse error because of the strength of the state’s case,” the majority declared. “We have recognized in the past that even when an individual error or series of errors does not rise to reversible error, when considered in combination, their cumulative effect can cause sufficient doubt on a verdict to require reversal.”

White man arrested over $50 billion fraud

Nothing new on Wall Street. He’ll be out in no time.

bernie-madoff-460_1205171c

Bernie Madoff, a former chairman of the NASDAQ stock market, has been arrested and charged with running a multi-billion dollar hedge fund swindle in New York.

Mr Madoff is alleged to have operated the scheme through his hedge fund business, which was separate from his better-known market-making business, Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities (BMIS).

Mr Madoff told senior employees of his firm on Wednesday that “it’s all just one big lie” and that he was “finished”, according to a criminal complaint filed on Thursday night by the US Attorney’s office and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

He allegedly went on to say that the business was “a giant Ponzi scheme” – a reference to Charles Ponzi, one of the greatest swindlers in US history – and estimated that the scheme had lost investors $50bn over many years – which would make the hedge fund one of the biggest frauds in history.

“There is no innocent explanation,” Mr Madoff said, according to the criminal complaint. He told the agents that it was all his fault, and that he “paid investors with money that wasn’t there”, according to the complaint.

He allegedly told his employees that he had, for years, been paying returns to certain investors out of the cash received from other investors.

Mr Madoff, 70, was charged with a single count of securities fraud and faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $5m if found guilty.

The criminal complaint was accompanied by a separate civil lawsuit filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which accuses Mr Madoff of defrauding clients of his firm and seeks emergency relief for the victims.

“Our complaint alleges a stunning fraud – both in terms of scope and duration. We are moving quickly and decisively to stop the scheme and protect the remaining assets for investors,” said Scott Friestad, the SEC’s deputy enforcer.

The complaint details that as of Jan 7, 2008, Madoff’s investment advisory business had assets of $17.1bn, serving up to 25 clients.

Although Mr Madoff is thought to have few direct British links, he did open a London office in 1983, with Madoff Securities International becoming one of the first American members of the London Stock Exchange.

Stephen Raven, chief executive of Madoff Securities International said: “We only became aware overnight of the news relating to our Chairman, Bernard Madoff. Our business in London is not in any way part of Bernard L Madoff Investment Securities LLC. His major shareholding in our firm is a personal investment. Our business activities are not involved in any way with the US asset management company with which the reported allegations appear to be concerned. We do not have any further information beyond what is already in the public domain.”

In 2000, his market-making business BMIS partnered with Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch to the form the new Primex Trading platform, one of the early rival electronic exchanges to the main bourses which eventually fell by the wayside following a partnership with NASDAQ.

BMIS is also credited with ending the old practice of quoting New York Stock Exchange-listed securities in eighths of a dollar in 1997, instead listing them in sixteenths.

Mr Madoff began BMIS with just $5,000 of savings from jobs lifeguarding at Rockaway Beach and installing sprinkler systems.

The firm grew to become a leading market maker, with brother Peter, nephew Charles, niece Shana, and sons Mark and Andrew all involved in the business at some stage in recent years.

His firm’s website claims that BMIS ranks among the top one per cent of US securities firms, and states that “clients know Bernard Madoff has a personal interest in maintaining… high ethical standards.”

Mr Madoff’s lawyer, Dan Horwitz, called his client “a person of integrity” and said he intends to fight the charge. “We will fight to get through this unfortunate set of events.” His client was released on a $10m bond secured by his New York apartment.

Cake request for 3-year-old Hitler namesake denied

Ok, so they’re not racist, they just name their kids after Nazi war criminals…

Hitler Cake

EASTON, Pa. – The father of 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell, denied a birthday cake with the child’s full name on it by one New Jersey supermarket, is asking for a little tolerance. Heath Campbell and his wife, Deborah, are upset not only with the decision made by the Greenwich ShopRite, but with an outpouring of angry Internet postings in response to a local newspaper article over the weekend on their flare-up over frosting.

“I think people need to take their heads out of the cloud they’ve been in and start focusing on the future and not on the past,” Heath Campbell said Tuesday in an interview conducted in Easton, on the other side of the Delaware River from where the family lives in Hunterdon County, N.J.

“There’s a new president and he says it’s time for a change; well, then it’s time for a change,” the 35-year-old continued. “They need to accept a name. A name’s a name. The kid isn’t going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did.”

Deborah Campbell, 25, said she phoned in her order last week to the ShopRite. When she told the bakery department she wanted her son’s name spelled out, she was told to talk to a supervisor, who denied the request.

A store manager at ShopRite referred questions to a corporate spokeswoman who did not immediately return a phone message Tuesday. But spokeswoman Karen Meleta told The Easton Express-Times for Sunday’s editions that the store considered Campbell’s request inappropriate.

The Campbells ultimately got their cake decorated at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania, Deborah Campbell said. About 12 people attended the birthday party on Sunday, including several children who were of mixed race, according to Heath Campbell.

“If we’re so racist, then why would I have them come into my home?” he asked.

The Campbells’ other two children also have unusual names: JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell turns 2 in a few months and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell will be 1 in April.

Heath Campbell said he named his son after Adolf Hitler because he liked the name and because “no one else in the world would have that name.” He sounded surprised by all the controversy the dispute had generated.

Campbell said his ancestors are German and that he has lived his entire life in Hunterdon County. On Tuesday he wore a pair of black boots he said were worn by a German soldier during World War II.

He said he was raised not to avoid people of other races but not to mix with them socially or romantically. But he said he would try to raise his children differently.

“Say he grows up and hangs out with black people. That’s fine, I don’t really care,” he said. “That’s his choice.”

Whites target Virgin Mary with pornography

Nothing is sacred to whites. How can they claim they had no clue this would be offensive and controversial?

LOS ANGELES (Reuters Life!) – A nude model resembling the Virgin Mary on the cover of the Mexican edition of Playboy magazine, published only days before a major Mexican festival dedicated to the mother of Jesus, prompted the company’s U.S. headquarters on Friday to apologize.

The magazine, which hit newsstands on December 1 as ceremonies began leading to Friday’s pilgrimage to the Mexico City shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, showed a model wearing nothing but a white cloth over her head and breasts.

She is standing in front of a stained glass window with the cover line, “We Love You, Maria” in Spanish. The model’s name is Maria Florencia Onori.

The Virgin of Guadalupe, said to have appeared to a sixteenth century Indian peasant, is Mexico’s most revered Roman Catholic figure and the annual pilgrimage to the Mexico City basilica dedicated to her is one of the world’s largest religious events.

In a statement, Chicago-based Playboy Enterprises Inc said the Mexican edition of the magazine is published by a licensee, and the company did not approve or endorse the cover.

“While Playboy Mexico never meant for the cover or images to offend anyone, we recognize that it has created offense, and we as well as Playboy Mexico offer our sincerest apologies,” the statement said.

Raul Sayrols, publisher of Playboy Mexico, said in a statement, “The image is not and never was intended to portray the Virgin of Guadalupe or any other religious figure. The intent was to reflect a Renaissance-like mood on the cover.”

Playboy Mexico printed 100,000 copies of the issue.

Illinois governor arrested on corruption charge

Sold to the highest bidder…

gov0916_285-7851981

CHICAGO – The words on the recording sound as if they were uttered by a mob boss. Instead, the feds say, it is the governor of Illinois speaking.

“I’ve got this thing and it’s (expletive) golden, and I’m just not giving it up for (expletive) nothing. I’m not gonna do it,” Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich says in a conversation intercepted by the FBI.

Federal prosecutors Tuesday accused the 51-year-old Blagojevich of scheming to enrich himself by selling Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat for cash or a lucrative job for himself. In excerpts released by prosecutors, Blagojevich snarls profanities, makes threats and demands and allegedly concocts a rich variety of schemes for profiting from his appointment of a new senator.

“I want to make money,” he declares, according to court papers. Blagojevich allegedly had a salary in mind: $250,000 to $300,00 a year. (He earns $177,412 a year.)

Even in this city inured to political chicanery — three other governors have been convicted in the past 35 years and numerous officeholders from Chicago have gone to prison for graft — the latest charges were stunning. And not just for the vulgarity, but for the naked greed, the recklessness and the self-delusion they suggest.

What is mystifying is why Blagojevich spoke so openly and so brazenly. He knew the feds were looking into his administration for the past three years for alleged hiring fraud; one of his top fundraisers has been convicted, another is awaiting trial. He even warned some associates not to use the phone because “everybody’s listening … You hear me?”

Blagojevich also is no neophyte. He was baptized in the nitty gritty of Chicago Machine politics and confirmed in back-room bargaining and big money deals. He spent years climbing the ladder, first as a state representative, then a congressman and finally governor. He was boosted to power by his father-in-law, Alderman Dick Mell, a veteran Democratic ward boss and longtime stalwart of the once mighty Machine.

And yet, in conversations recorded from late October to last week, Blagojevich seemed almost oblivious as he vented his frustrations about being “stuck” as governor, complained of “struggling” financially, and allegedly talked of using the Senate appointment to land a lucrative job in the private sector, or even an ambassadorship or a Cabinet post.

“It’s about greed,” said Don Rose, a longtime political strategist in Chicago. “He’s got to be completely off his rocker to be talking like that at a time when he knows the feds are looking at him. … He’s out there like he’s talking to his wife in bed.”

He added: “I think this is beyond ordinary sanity. We’re talking about something clinical here. This is beyond logic. It’s beyond greed as we know it.”

He also scoffed at the notion that Blagojevich had any chance of obtaining a post in Obama’s Cabinet.

“I consider myself a student of corruption, but I’ve never heard of this kind of thing going on,” Rose said. “The way he’s talking about it is lunacy. … `Maybe they’ll make me secretary of health and human services.’ Who’s going to hire this guy?”

Paul Green, a political scientist at Roosevelt University, said: “If you’re under so much scrutiny by an unbelievably dedicated U.S. attorney’s office, why would you risk it all? This is a case less about politics and more about social psychology. … A hard-nosed Illinois politician wouldn’t even dream of doing this, considering the situation.”

One of the most intriguing aspects of the story was that Blagojevich was elected as Mr. Clean, promising to clean up state government. His predecessor, Republican Gov. George Ryan, is behind bars for graft.

Blagojevich “had everything going for him,” Green said. “He could have been the Serbian Obama. He was young, handsome, articulate.”

In court papers, prosecutors said Blagojevich also tried to strong-arm political contributions in exchange for jobs and contracts, and tried to use his authority to get editorial writers from the Chicago Tribune who criticized him fired.

He also discussed getting his wife, Patti, who has been in the real estate business, on corporate boards where she could earn up to $150,000 a year.

Some of the most shocking conversations came in the days before and after Obama’s victory, when Blagojevich seemed intent on capitalizing on his role in choosing the president-elect’s successor in the Senate.

According to court papers, on Nov. 3, the day before the election, Blagojevich talked with someone identified only as Deputy Governor A about the Senate seat, and said: “If … they’re not going to offer anything of any value, then I might just take it” — that is, make himself senator.

That same day, he talked tough, and said he intended to “drive a hard bargain.”

Later, he noted the seat is a “(expletive) valuable thing, you just don’t give it away for nothing.”

On Election Day, as crowds were gathering in Grant Park to celebrate Obama’s victory, Blagojevich spoke with John Harris, his chief of staff, who also has been charged in the case. The governor likened himself to a sports agent shopping a free agent to teams, and said, “How much are you offering, (president-elect)?”

Days later, according to the documents, Blagojevich said he was willing to “trade” that Senate seat for the position of the secretary of health and human Services in Obama’s Cabinet. There is no indication that Obama ever considered him.

In another conversation, though, the governor seemed aware he was not going to get a Cabinet post or an ambassadorship, noting all the negative publicity swirling around him.

In the documents, Blagojevich raised the possibility of starting a nonprofit organization and perhaps getting someone such as billionaire investor Warren Buffett or someone else to help.

White man Rapes Babies On Camera

What is it about children that makes white men so excited? Death penalty anyone?

MINNEAPOLIS — A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to answering an online advertisement for baby-sitting work and then using the client’s child to make a pornographic video.

In a plea deal with federal prosecutors, Aaron Jay Lemon admitted Wednesday to producing the video. The 23-year-old from Little Canada also admitted to coercing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct.

The plea agreement says Lemon filmed the child in St. Paul after seeking the baby-sitting job through Craigslist. St. Paul police say the victim was a 2-year-old girl.

The U.S. attorney’s office says the case was part of a project that encourages agencies to investigate the sexual exploitation of children over the Internet.

The office says Lemon faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.

Tough guy huh?

A 22-year-old man has been charged with robbing a disabled man as the victim was walking in the Rogers Park neighborhood earlier this week, police said today.

Joseph Warren (right) of the 5600 block of North Ozark Avenue was charged with felony robbery after the Wednesday night incident in the 1700 block of West Granville Street, police said.

The victim, who police reports said was physically disabled and has no hands, was walking down the street about 9:40 p.m. when several men came up from behind him, and one grabbed his neck and held him as he stole his possessions. The man’s coat, wallet, keys and about $150 were stolen, police said.

After police were notified, they spotted Warren, who matched the description given, and arrested him nearby about 20 minutes later. The victim later identified him as the assailant, authorities said. Authorities were still looking for three other men in the attack.

Warren appeared in court this morning where a judge ordered him held in lieu of $90,000 bail, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. Warren’s next court date is scheduled for Dec. 10.

Europe intends to “regulate the internet”

White control freaks at it again…

105401937

Italian president and media baron Silvio Berlusconi said today that he would use his country’s imminent presidency of the G8 group to push for an international agreement to “regulate the internet”.

Speaking to Italian postal workers, Reuters reports Berlusconi said: “The G8 has as its task the regulation of financial markets… I think the next G8 can bring to the table a proposal for a regulation of the internet.”

Italy’s G8 presidency begins on January 1. The role is taken by each of the group’s members in rotation. The holder country is responsible for organising and hosting the G8’s meetings and setting the agenda. Italy’s last G8 presidency in 2001, also under Berlusconi, was marred by riots at the annual meeting in Genoa.

Berlusconi didn’t explain what he meant by “regulate the internet”, but the mere mention of it has prompted dismay among Italian commentators. Berlusconi owns swathes of the Italian mass media.

The left-wing newspaper L’Unita wrote: “You can not say that it is not a disturbing proclamation, given that the only countries in the world where there are filters or restrictions against internet are countries ruled by dictatorial regimes: those between China, Iran, Cuba, Saudi Arabia.”

La Stampa reports Italian bloggers are planning to protest against any move by the president to tighten government control over the web tomorrow. They plan to display anti-Berlusconi banners on their websites.

Any G8 move next year to “regulate the internet” led by Berlusconi is likely to attract criticism. He has often been accused of using his power to try to silence dissent. He lost a long-running libel battle against The Economist earlier this year after it said he was not “fit to run Italy” and was this week suing American critic Andrew Stille for defamation*.

However, the governments of industrialised nations have been ramping up their rhetoric against internet content they view as unacceptable. The UK has introduced new laws and revived arcane ones to clamp down on extremist websites and niche pornography. Australia is busy implementing filters.
