Sacramento, California – William Kindrick, 30, and Anita Rivera, 32, were arrested Monday on accusations they were raising kids in deplorable conditions and physically abusing them as well.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the couple’s home after a neighbor called to report a suspected case of child abuse. Investigators arrived on scene to discover Rivera’s four children (ages 1 thru 12) living in deplorable conditions.
Investigators say the home reeked of dog feces and the floor was lined with debris, clutter and feces that was 6-inches deep. Spoiled food, cockroaches, clutter and debris was strewn throughout the house and out into the couple’s yard.
The alleged neglect came to light when a neighbor reportedly saw Kindrick attacking a 12-year-old boy in the couple’s front yard. Detectives later discovered that several of the children had been attacked by Kindrick, resulting in cuts, scrapes, bruises and a split lip… All four children have now been placed with the children’s biological father.
Kindrick and Rivera were booked into jail on suspicion of abuse and neglect. Bail was set at $50,000 each.
Cannibals Offer Human Kebabs In Russia

Russian police have arrested three homeless people suspected of eating a 25-year-old man they had butchered and selling other bits of the corpse to a local kebab house.
Suspicions were raised when dismembered parts of a human body were found near a bus stop in the outskirts of the Russian city of Perm, 1,150 km (720 miles) east of Moscow.
Three homeless men with previous criminal records have been arrested on suspicion of setting upon a foe with knives and a hammer before chopping up his corpse to eat, local investigators said in a statement.
“After carrying out the crime, the corpse was divided up: part was eaten and part was also sold to a kiosk selling kebabs and pies,” the Prosecutor-General’s main investigative unit for the Perm region said in a statement issued on Friday.
It was not immediately clear from the statement if any of the corpse had been sold to customers.

Tampa, Florida – Marine or Priest? Who do you believe? The accounts of what went on in a parking garage on Monday vary so drastically, it’s hard to tell which man wears the halo.
Police say it all started when Alexios Marakis, a priest from Greece, got lost in Tampa. He followed some cars into an apartment parking garage and in very broken English asked Jasen Bruce for help.
Bruce, a Marine Reservist, told police the priest tried to rob him, so Bruce hit him with a tire iron and chased Marakis three blocks.
Bruce also told police he thought the robed and bearded Marakis was an Arab terrorist.
Police spokesperson Laura McElroy says Bruce told officers that the priest shouted “Allahu Akbar!” The phrase, Bruce told officers, that Arab terrorists use before they blow you up.
McElroy says Bruce also told officers that Marakis made a sexual advance towards him in the parking garage.
And that sexual advance is what Bruce’s attorney Jeffrey Brown says motivated the attack. Brown held a news conference Tuesday afternoon to counter what he called the “one-sided, tainted” press release from TPD.
According to Brown, the priest “made a sexual reference and grabbed the genitals of Lance Corporal Bruce. Lance Corporal Bruce defended himself,” explained Brown.
Brown says he’s confident that eventually surveillance tapes and the 911 call will back up his client’s account.
However, the president of the group Tampa Bay Human Rights is urging the police and FBI to investigate the attack on the priest as a hate crime.
Ahmed Bedier told 10 Connects, “There was some sort of motivation based on the person’s ethnicity, where he perceived him to be Arab or Muslim and that’s simply unacceptable.”
Marakis is from Crete and is a visiting priest to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Tarpon Springs. 10 Connects called and also visited the church on Tuesday, but no one was available to comment on the attack.

A Miller County man is in custody for allegedly beating and sexually assaulting a five-month-old infant.
Aaron Michael Fisher, 21, of Brumley, was taken into custody by the Osage Beach Police Department on Oct. 28 after the infant was taken to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.
Fisher was arrested at the hospital, then turned over to the Miller County Sheriff’s Department. He is being held in Miller County without bond.
Fisher is charged with two counts of felony sodomy.
According to court documents, the infant had signs of “apparent physical and sexual child abuse.”
The infant, identified only by initials and gender in the court documents, was later transferred to the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. The infant was bleeding internally, had sustained a head injury and had several broken bones. There was evidence of sexual abuse listed in the documents.
The infant remains hospitalized in critical condition. Fisher and the child’s mother had been living in Brumley. Fisher had just recently moved to Missouri from Michigan.
In a statement given to the Miller County Sheriff’s Department on Oct. 29, Fisher admitted that while the infant had been in his care, he had “watched some pornographic media.” He then described in detail what he had done to the infant.
The documents did not state whether Fisher was home alone with the infant when the alleged abuse took place.
According to the documents, Fisher’s mother recently fled to another state after she was assaulted by her son.
The infant and a 2-year-old sibling have been placed in emergency protective care of the 26th Judicial Circuit Juvenile Services. The Miller County office of the Missouri Department of Social Services Children’s Division, along with the juvenile office and sheriff’s department are involved in the ongoing investigation.

In what one Russian Military Analyst (jokingly?) speculated could possibly be a “very sick” way of publicizing a new American movie opening this week about the US Pentagons decades long experiments in mind-control technology (“The Men Who Stare At Goats”), has instead, according to these reports, resulted in a tragic massacre of at least 13 US Soldiers preparing for deployment to the Iraq war from the giant US military base of Fort Hood, Texas.
From Western propaganda news media reports on this massacre the American people are being told that a US Army Military Trained Psychiatrist, Major Nidal Malik Hasan [photo top left], became despondent over his recently receiving orders to deploy to Iraq and in “typical” lone gunman fashion “decided” to open fire on hundreds of his fellow soldiers killing and wounding them without discrimination.
Completing the “new legend” (in almost record time too) about this “lone gunman” being made responsible for this massacre, the Western propaganda machines are reporting such idiocies as Major Hasan having previously “complained to relatives of harassment by fellow-officers mocking him for being Middle Eastern” (Major Hasan’s parents came from small Palestinian town near Jerusalem) and his “attracting the attention of police six months ago for internet postings analyzing the motives of suicide bombers that was not formally investigated”.
Interesting to note in these reports, however, about Major Hasan is his past psychiatric training, paid for by the US Military, at Virginia Tech University where he graduated from that schools Center for Applied Behavior Systems with a degree in biochemistry, a school which FSB reports have long warned “is most likely” one of the US Department of Defenses top PSYOP training centers and where in April, 2007, it suffered the worst school massacre in US history when a Chinese student named Seung-Hui Cho, reported to be a subject to mind-control experiments, single-handedly gunned down 32 fellow students.
Even more interesting to note is that from the initial chaotic scene of the Fort Hood massacre not just the wounded Major Hanson taking into custody, but so were three other “alleged” gunmen, two of whom were released leaving one, at last report, still in US Army custody.
Now to understand the circumstances that placed Major Hasan at Fort Hood in the first place one has to understand that he was one of the US Militaries top PSYOP specialists and had received his medical degree, with honors, from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, in 2001, and did his internship at Walter Reed Army Hospital.
Major Hasan then became one of the top researchers at the US Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress in the field this US Military funded organization stated was:

From his position at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress, Major Hasan became one of the originators of what is called the US Army’s “Warrior Combat Reset Program” set up to help American soldiers returning from war zones, or being redeployed to them, cope with what is called post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and which according to these reports led to his being at Fort Hood to “electronically prepare” an experimental group of US Soldiers for their return to the Iraq war zone.
Important to be understood about these reports is their detailing that nearly all of the US Military Forces are suffering what is termed a “catastrophic” level of stress disorders, murders, rapes and suicides so bad that American commanders are now warning that the readiness of their forces in is danger of “outright collapse”, and which is no wonder being that in just three short months this will become the longest war in US history.
Making the recycling of these battle hardened US Soldiers (to keep killing and dying for reasons they don’t even know about anymore) even more crucial are new American Military reports stating that over one-third of “Americans ages 17-24 are unqualified for military service because of physical and medical issues.”
So to yesterday’s massacre at Fort Hood, and Major Hasan’s “true role” in it, we need to turn to a little known, but extremely shocking case filed in the United States this past spring by a San Francisco lawyer named Gordon Erspamer and alleging:
And among these “experiments” conducted on US Soldiers by their government, and according to FSB files was a “research specialty” of Major Hasan’s, one was one called Radio Hypnotic Intracerebral Control Electronic Dissolution of Memory (RHIC-EDOM) which was pioneered for the US Military in the 1960’s by New York University Professor J. Anthony Deutsch who…“indicated that the mind is a transmitter and if too much information is received, like too many vehicles on a crowded freeway, the brain ceases to transmit. The Professor indicated that an excess of acetyl choline in the brain can interfere with the memory process and control. He indicated excess amounts of acetyl choline can be artificially produced, through both the administration of drugs or through the use of radio waves. The process is called Electronic Dissolution of Memory (EDOM). The memory transmission can be stopped for as long as the radio signal continues.”
So strong was the American Military and Intelligence establishments’ belief that only by “erasing” the previous “battle stained” memories of their Soldiers could they be made to continue killing and dying that in 2007 they contracted with Russia’s Psychotechnology Research Institute in Moscow to purchase a system called Semantic Stimuli Response Measurements Technology (SSRM Tek) which is a software-based mind reader that tests a subject’s involuntary response to subliminal messages and which was used by the Soviet Military on Russian troops being redeployed to Afghanistan.
Unfortunately for the Americans, and who were undoubtedly warned by their Russian counterparts about this, the previous Soviet experiments using SSRM Tek software combined with RHIC-EDOM technology had a very dangerous side-effect of “triggering immediate battle memories” instead of “erasing” them and resulting in masses of Russian troops who were undergoing these experiments to “erupt” in “immediate violence” which left an estimated 37 of them dead when they began (for no apparent reason) to begin firing upon each other.
In the United States today 13 American Soldiers lie dead, and many more are wounded leaving countless numbers of wives, children, fathers and mothers to mourn over their seemingly senseless killing.
But, like the events of 9/11, the assassinations of their President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert, and the great civil rights leader Martin Luther King have shown us, these Americans have been well schooled in seeing only what they are told to see when tragedies like these, and Fort Hood now, occur.
Sometimes the childlike stories concocted by their propaganda masters to explain these horrific events are enough to placate the American people, but one has to wonder when at least some of them will wake up to the stark and brutal truth about what is happening to them. One can only wonder if these Americans had demanded the truth before if these Soldiers were massacred would still be alive?
That is not in our knowing. But what is in our knowing is this, before they awaken from their long slumber these Americans can expect many more such deaths. We’re sure their propaganda organs are up to the task.
Trial Starts for German Neo-Nazi Killer Of Pregnant Egyptian Woman
What is truly disturbing and despicable are the number of whites supporting the murder of this woman and her unborn child. Will justice be done?
The killing of Marwa el-Sherbini provoked outrage among Muslims for its sheer brutality and brazenness. According to witnesses, the pregnant mother was stabbed to death in front of a courtroom full of people in Germany by a man with an apparently deep-seated hatred of Muslims. Thousands marched in Egypt, Iran and other Muslim countries against what they perceived as a disturbing rise of Islamophobia and racism in Germany, as well as the scant attention the attack received in the German media.
Now, four months later, the trial of el-Sherbini’s alleged killer is being closely watched by Muslims across the world — not to mention Germany’s four-million-strong Muslim community — amid fears that anything but a severe punishment for the defendant, an unemployed Russian émigré identified only as Alex W., could spark more unrest. In Egypt, where el-Sherbini has been dubbed by the media as the “headscarf martyr,” people are expecting “justice to be administered in a swift way,” Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, Egypt’s ambassador to Germany, told Al-Jazeera.
The trial began Monday in exactly the same courthouse in Dresden where the killing took place. The 28-year-old defendant wore a cap, a dark blue hooded top and sunglasses to conceal his face as he was led into the courtroom flanked by police officers and seated behind a screen of bulletproof glass. Prosecutors then described how el-Sherbini, 31, was attacked. The pharmacist had appeared in court on July 1 to testify in a hearing against Alex W., who was appealing an earlier conviction for defaming el-Sherbini by calling her an “Islamist” and a “terrorist” on a playground. Prosecutors say that after el-Sherbini’s testimony, Alex W. lunged at her with a seven-inch kitchen knife he had smuggled into court and stabbed her at least 16 times. Her husband, Elwy Okaz, 32, was also repeatedly stabbed before being shot by a policeman who mistook him for el-Sherbini’s attacker. El-Sherbini, who was three months pregnant at the time, bled to death in front of the couple’s 3-year-old son.
Okaz was back in court on Monday, walking with the help of crutches after having undergone two operations. “We wanted to leave the court and then he attacked her,” Okaz said in a calm voice, recalling the incident. “When I saw that he had a knife, I tried to get it off him. He continued stabbing my wife even when she was lying on the ground.” Okaz said their son was meant to be in kindergarten on the day of the attack but he was ill. “Marwa wanted to take him to the doctor after the hearing. The little boy misses her and he’s suffering a lot,” Okaz testified.
Alex W., who emigrated from Russia in 2003 and was granted German citizenship because he had distant ethnic roots to the country, faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted of murder and attempted murder. Prosecutors say he had been motivated by a deep-rooted racism. “He stabbed [the couple] out of pure hatred against non-Europeans and Muslims. He wanted to kill them,” prosecutor Frank Heinrich told the court Monday.
Surprisingly, the killing was scarcely reported in Germany, which caused massive embarrassment for Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government when the story made headlines across the Muslim world. Following the demonstrations in Egypt, Merkel expressed her condolences to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on the sidelines of the G-8 summit in Italy in July. Given the outcry over the lack of publicity before, Alex W.’s trial is now receiving extensive coverage in the country. German political leaders are also nervously watching the proceedings. “Politicians regarded the murder of Marwa el-Sherbini as a foreign policy issue, but it was really an internal matter,” Ali Kizilkaya, the head of the Islamic Council of Germany, tells TIME. “The case shows that a small part of German society is Islamophobic and that shouldn’t be underestimated. Politicians have to learn that Muslims must be recognized as an equal part of German society.” He added, though, that he has faith in the German justice system and he’s confident there will be a fair judgment in the case.
If not, some fear a possible repeat of the riots that swept the Muslim world following the publication of cartoons lampooning the Prophet Muhammad several years ago in Denmark. After death threats against Alex W. were reportedly posted on the Internet, Dresden authorities imposed extra security measures for the duration of the trial. Roads around the courthouse have been closed off and 200 police officers will stand guard until a verdict is reached, which is expected to be on Nov. 11. With tensions running high, German authorities aren’t taking any chances this time.
Indians Beat Up Racist Australian Thugs
We do not endorse any sort of violence, but Indians do have a right to defend themselves from racist thugs while Australian authorities do nothing.
Two locals, who allegedly abused a group of Indians and vandalised their car, were bashed up by them here, police said on Monday.
The incident took place at a carpark outside Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium in Epping when a local skateboarder damaged the rear window of a car belonging to an Indian.
The skateboarder also used the abusive language against some Indians who were coming out of the stadium where a Kabaddi match had ended on Sunday night.
“Associates of the people, whose car was damaged, came to their assistance. Two men were assaulted and hit with sticks in the brawl. These two injured men were from the group outside who had allegedly started to verbally abuse the people from the vehicle,” police said in a statement.
The two men, aged 25 and 42, were taken to Northern Hospital with minor injuries, they said. However, no arrests have been made and the incident was under investigations, police told PTI.
“A lot of people were leaving, the presentations were on at the time, I spoke to one of the boys that was there and he said a guy had smashed the rear window of a car that was leaving,” Councillor from the City of Darebin Tim Singh, who was present at the medal presentations ceremony for Kabaddi tournament, was quoted as saying by the media.
White Man Charged With Raping 12 Year Old Daughter

CHARLOTTE – A North Carolina man charged in the abduction of his two adopted daughters, including a 12-year-old pregnant girl, is now facing rape and incest charges.
Matthew Hess, 40, is charged with indecent liberties with a child, first-degree rape and felony incest between near relatives.
The suspect and his adopted daughters were part of an Amber Alert that was issued last week. The children were located and are now safe.
The man is already charged with child neglect and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The girls’ mother reported them missing last month when the 12-year-old failed to show for a doctor’s appointment. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said troopers arrested the man last week.

BNP activists rounded on Nick Griffin yesterday over his car-crash performance on Question Time – playing their own part in the fascist bigot’s downfall.
They joined in condemnation of the far-Right party leader’s vile TV outpourings.
A poll taken after his appearance showed the extremist would still be snubbed by voters. Around two-thirds of people questioned said they would not vote BNP “under any circumstances”. Only seven per cent in the YouGov poll of 1,314 people said they would “definitely” or “possibly” back them.
Griffin, 50, vowed to complain about the BBC show, saying he’d faced a “lynch mob”. But BNP press officer John Walker admitted: “I’d say anyone opposed to the BNP will be feeling very smug.”
More than 8.2million viewers watched Griffin’s squirming performance on BBC1’s flagship debate show.
Sitting in the studio audience, Khush Kumar, 38, was cheered as he suggested a whip-round to send Griffin and his supporters to the “colourless” South Pole.

Choking back tears, anguished Khush yesterday told how his dad was KNIFED by a race-hate nut as fellow members of the studio audience joined him in saying they were proud to expose the BNP leader as a tin-pot Nazi.
Khush revealed his postman father Gian-Chand Klare was only saved by his thick DUFFEL COAT after a racist knife thug stopped him in the street and asked the time.

Black lawyer Nathaniel Ikeazor, 43, of Twickenham, West London – who also hurled a question from the audience – branded Griffin “slimy”. He said: “Just the fact he was sitting there on the panel on live TV wound me up.”

The IT account manager, of St Albans, Herts, savaged the BNP leader as “poison” on the show. Nick said: “He was clearly shaking, fiddling with his papers and looking very uncomfortable.”
Griffin claimed the programme should not have been televised in London because the capital was “no longer British”.
He said it had been “ethnically cleansed” of “English and British people”. London mayor Boris Johnson scoffed that he was right to say the cosmopolitan capital was not his city. He vowed: “The BNP has no place here.”
Three times as many viewers as normal tuned into Question Time after 1,000 protesters besieged the Beeb’s West London HQ. Griffin had to be smuggled into Television Centre via a back door.
He crowed 3,000 had rushed to join his party thanks to the show. But John Walker – the BNP’s own press officer – admitted: “Anyone who was opposed to the BNP will be feeling very smug with themselves after last night.”

On Oct. 21 and 22, specialists from around the nation will convene in Tulsa to hold Oklahoma’s first Human Trafficking Awareness and Training Conference.
Law enforcement experts from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Federal Marshals from Texas and the Department of Justice Prosecutors from Washington D.C. will be on hand conducting workshops and panel discussions.
Additionally, experienced psychiatrists, social workers and case workers will address treatment and care for victims of sex trafficking.
Recent findings from Law enforcement agencies, non-profit anti-trafficking organizations and Shared Hope International indicate that Houston is now the number one city for child sex trafficking, with Las Vegas and Atlanta ranking second and third.
According to FBI experts, traffickers are known to move their victims from state to state to avoid being detected.
“Our highway systems have become the new slave trade routes of these modern-day sex slaves,” said Mark Elam, of Oklahomans Against Trafficking Humans.
With Interstates 40 and 44 connecting the east and west coasts and I-35 connecting Mexico and Houston to northern cities, Oklahoma is right in the crossroads of this growing problem.

TITUSVILLE – A 23-year-old Titusville mother charged with trying to kill her 11-month-old son so she could return to work will remain in Brevard County Jail, officials said today.
Christina Marie Mcintyre of Coleridge Drive was charged with attempted domestic felony murder, aggravated child abuse, child abuse and child neglect causing great bodily harm.
In a court hearing this afternoon, Mcintyre was denied bond in the attempted felony murder charge, but was granted bond of $50,000 each on the three remaining counts.
Titusville police said Mcintyre tried to smother the child earlier this month, even using the baby’s 2-year-old brother to do the job using a blanket and bean bag chair, but changed her mind and called 911 for help. Though she put the child up to it, she disciplined the 2-year-old later, police said.
During the Oct. 6 call, police said, Mcintyre waited about two minutes before telling the operator the child was not breathing and beginning a half-hearted attempt at cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Rescuers arrived moments later and revived the child. She reported the baby’s illness as apnea during the call.
About a week later, on Oct. 15, the state Department of Children and Families reported Mcintyre to police, claiming that during tests for apnea at several hospitals in Central Florida, doctors determined the child was fine and his mother was the cause of breathing problems.
In one procedure that was being videotaped, police said, Mcintyre interfered and may have harmed the baby again.
“Each time the mother reported the child was not breathing, she was either in front of the camera, or the camera caught part of the incident and showed there was nothing wrong with the child,” according to a police arrest report. “The victim was also attached to an apnea monitor, which showed no distress.”
Police said Mcintyre admitted she tried to kill the baby.
“The defendant explained that she wanted to go back to work, but could not afford day care for both kids,” according to the police report. “She stated that if the infant died, she could afford to put the older child in day care so she could work.”
Police said Mcintyre also admitted she exaggerated and fabricated the apnea incidents to doctors and hospitals as a cover for his breathing difficulties. She said she was afraid her children would be taken away, police said.
Medical records show he had four doctor appointments and three hospitalizations since Sept. 21 regarding apnea, police said. He also had numerous invasive tests, which prosecutors say amounted to aggravated child abuse.
Both children are in DCF custody.

A man who allegedly videotaped a friend having sex with a horse at a farm in Washington state in 2005 is now accused of performing sex acts with a horse in Tennessee.
James Tait, 58, was arrested and charged Thursday with three counts of felony animal cruelty. Kenny Thomason, 44, the farm owner who lives with Tait in a Nashville suburb, was charged with two counts of the same crime.
“This is one of the most upsetting days I’ve ever dealt with,” Maury County Sheriff Enoch George said Friday, according to the Columbia Daily Herald.
Tait and Thomason were each being held on more than $100,000 bail.
According to an arrest warrant, Tait engaged in sex acts with a stud horse at the Double Branch Road farm over a span of several months.
A complaint from a citizen prompted an investigation. The person e-mailed investigators a photo of a man who appeared to be having sex with a Shetland pony.
Authorities went to the property, which Detective Terry Chandler said housed 13 horses, Shetland ponies, goats and dogs.
The detective said that it appears that people had been having sex with ponies and dogs as well as the stud horse.
Capt. Jimmy Tennyson said authorities have recovered pictures of Tait engaging in the acts with the horse.
“More charges are coming. They’ve been having sex with full-grown horses,” Chandler told The Seattle Times on Monday. “He [Tait] has been here for four years and it looks like it has been going on for some time.”
Fatal horseplay
In 2005, Tait was identified by police as having videotaped his friend Kenneth Pinyan having sex with a horse at a farm in Enumclaw, Wash., about 40 miles south of Seattle. Pinyan eventually died from internal injuries he suffered from having sex with the equine, authorities said.
Sheriff’s investigators in King County, Wash., found about 100 pornographic videos depicting Tait and others performing sex acts with animals, including the fatal incident, said Sgt. John Uruquhart.
But there were no Washington laws against bestiality at the time and there wasn’t sufficient evidence the horse had been injured.
Tait was charged with criminal trespassing. He entered an Alford plea, meaning he did not admit guilt but acknowledged a jury likely would convict him. He was sentenced to one year of probation and fined $300.
After the incident, the Washington Legislature passed a law making bestiality a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The Enumclaw case was the subject of the recent documentary “Zoo” by Seattle filmmaker Robinson Devor.
Doctor guilty of spiking pregnant lover’s drinks

A married doctor was today found guilty of twice trying to induce a miscarriage in his pregnant lover by lacing her drinks with a cocktail of prescription drugs.
Dr Edward Erin, 44, tried to poison his hospital secretary when she told him she was carrying his child after a brief affair that followed a Christmas party.
Bella Prowse, 33, told the Old Bailey that she found a yellow powder at the bottom of her cup of Earl Grey soon after telling him that she had decided to have their baby.
Ms Prowse, who was in the public gallery today, sobbed as she waited for the verdicts and buried her head in her lap. Her friends clapped when the guilty verdicts were announced.
Erin, who has a Phd in Pharmacology, claimed that his lover had concocted the mixture of drugs herself because she wanted to abort the baby but the prosecution claimed that Erin had tried to drug Ms Prowse’s drinks on three occasions in February last year.
He was found guilty of one charge of attempting to spike Ms Prowse’s Starbucks coffee and another of trying to do the same to some orange juice. But the jury found him not guilty of spiking her Earl Grey tea and could not reach a verdict on a charge of procuring drugs to induce an abortion.
Ms Prowse, 33, from Brixton, South London, gave birth to a healthy baby boy in September 2008.
Detective Chief Inspector Mickey Gallagher, said: “Edward Erin is a consultant physician, pharmacologist and honorary senior lecturer. He has been a medical professional for over 20 years, yet having failed to persuade his girlfriend, Bella Prowse, to have an abortion, he has abused his profession and position of trust, used his medical knowledge to try and bring on a miscarriage.
“This was not a morality trial, but the nature of this case in unusual in that it is only the second of it type to be brought before the courts in the last 40 years. Erin has been judged on evidence and the jury have applied good sense and fairness.”
Erin, a respiratory specialist at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, was remanded in custody until November 16 for sentencing.
Ms Prowse, who has a 13-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, said they began an affair after the office Christmas party on December 20, 2007. But by January 21 last year, she found out she was pregnant. Erin tried to persuade her to have an abortion, but she cancelled two appointments.
She wiped away tears and sobbed as told the court that had regretted an earlier abortion in 2002.
Ms Prowse said: “He said we could not have a baby. He was not ready to have a baby. He said he wanted us to have a future and that he loved me. He wanted to take me climbing and he wanted to take me skiing and this would ruin it.”
After she cancelled the first abortion clinic appointment, he had become really upset. “He was begging me and crying,” she said.
After telling him of her final decision, he went over to her south London home.
The next morning, she woke up to find him sitting up in bed. He had told her he had not slept and asked if she wanted a drink.
She said: “Ed came into the bedroom with a cup of tea and gave it to me.”
When she queried sediment she found at the bottom of the cup, he rinsed it through and told her it was scale from her kettle.
That night, Erin’s wife, Dr Lowri Erin, a microbiologist, saw him crushing tablets in their kitchen but thought nothing of it when he said it was for work.
A week later, Ms Prowse had become suspicious when they met for coffee and she noticed the lids of the cups had been removed and replaced.
She poured the coffee into a bottle without drinking it.
The following day, Erin offered her a bottle of orange juice at work. She did not drink it when she noticed the seal was broken.
Police tests on the liquid uncovered traces of Methotrexate, Diclofenac and Misoprostol.
But Erin’s wife believed his pleas of innocence. Asked if she believed Ms Prowse’s claims, she said: “Absolutely no.”
“The fact that he had relationships with other women was not that important to me,” she said. “I do not know what a conventional relationship is. We loved each other.”
Before his affair with Ms Prowse, Erin had a relationship with Dr Malin Roesner, a specialist registrar, and a woman named Angela before that.
The Crown Prosecution Service will decide in the next week whether to ask for a retrial on the charge of procuring drugs to induce an abortion, which the jury could not agree on.
Erin had been banned from working with patients by the General Medical Council pending the outcome of the case.
Sheriff: Boy-in-balloon was hoax, charges expected

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The story that a little boy had floated away in a giant helium balloon was a hoax concocted to land a reality television show, authorities said Sunday, and the boy’s parents will likely face felony charges.
The stunt two weeks in the planning was a marketing ploy by Richard and Mayumi Heene, who met in acting school in Hollywood and have appeared on the ABC reality show “Wife Swap,” Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden said. The Heenes have reportedly been working on a reality TV deal in Los Angeles.
Investigators are examining the possibility of other conspirators, “including the possibility that even some of the media outlets may have had some knowledge about this,” Alderden said.
Documents show that a media outlet has agreed to pay money to the Heenes with regards to the balloon incident, Alderden said. He didn’t name the media outlet, but said it was a show that blurs “the line between entertainment and news.” It wasn’t clear whether the deal was signed before or after the alleged hoax, or whether that media outlet was a possible conspirator.
Alderden did not name an outlet or provide any details.
“Let’s call it (my statement) short of speculation that a media outlet was in on the hoax, but let’s not discount the possibility,” he said.
Six-year-old Falcon Heene may not have even been hiding in the rafters of the family’s garage during the intense five-hour search for him Thursday, Alderden said.
“For all we know he may have been two blocks down the road playing on the swing in the city park,” the sheriff said.
The stunt temporarily shut down Denver International Airport and caused the National Guard to scramble two helicopters in an attempt to rescue the boy, who was believed to be inside the flying-saucer shaped homemade balloon that hurtled more than 50 miles across two counties.
The drama played out on live television to millions of viewers worldwide. When the balloon landed without the boy in it, officials thought he had fallen out and began grim search for his body.
In fact, the balloon — which was held together with duct tape — would not have been able to launch with the 37-pound-boy inside, Colorado State University physics professor Brian Jones has determined.
The parents weren’t under arrest, the sheriff said. He said he expected to recommend charges of conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities and attempting to influence a public servant. Federal charges were also possible.
The most serious charges are felonies and carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a $500,000 fine. Alderden said they would be seeking restitution for the costs, though he didn’t have an estimate.
The cost for just the two military helicopters was about $14,500.
Richard and Mayumi Heene were shopping for snacks at Wal-Mart with their three sons as Alderden told reporters that the whole thing was a hoax.
Richard Heene told The Associated Press he was “seeking counsel.”
“This thing has become so convoluted,” Heene said as tears welled in his eyes. He said his wife was holding together better than he was.
The couple’s attorney, David Lane, issued a statement later Sunday saying the Heenes were willing to voluntarily turn themselves in to face charges. Lane said he advised the family against making public statements.
The sheriff said all three of the Heenes’ sons knew of the hoax, but likely won’t face charges because of their ages. The oldest son is 10. One of the boys told investigators he saw his brother get in the balloon’s box before it launched.
Heene, 48, a storm chaser and inventor, has described himself as an amateur scientist, but Alderden said Heene has only a high school education. He most recently earned a living by laying tile, the sheriff said.
“He may be nutty, but he’s not a professor,” Alderden said.
Alderden said that during the drama, the family’s actions led them to believe the story was genuine. But during an interview on CNN Thursday night, Alderden said investigators had an “aha” moment when Falcon turned to his dad and said what sounded like “you had said we did this for a show” when asked why he didn’t come out of his hiding place.
On Friday, Falcon got sick during two separate TV interviews when asked again why he hid.
Alderden said they didn’t question the family Friday because they wanted to keep the family’s cooperation by maintaining the appearance that they believed their story. Richard Heene was asked to stop by the sheriff’s office under the pretext that he needed to pick up his balloon, and was questioned once he got there.
With Heene gone, other investigators went to the house. Alderden said they were looking for computers, e-mails, phone records and financial records.
Records show that police have responded to the house at least twice in the past year, including a possible domestic violence incident in February. No charges were filed.
Alderden said officials tried Saturday to persuade Mayumi Heene, 45, to go to a safe house, but she declined.
“We talked to her at length about domestic violence, about her safety, about her children’s safety,” the sheriff said. “We have a concern, but we didn’t have enough that would allow us or child protective services to physically take the kids from that environment.”
Alderden said the children were still with the parents Sunday and that child protective services had been contacted to investigate the children’s well-being. On “Wife Swap,” Heene was portrayed as erratic, at one point throwing a glass of milk on a participant on the program.
“Clearly, from all indications, Mr. Heene has somewhat of a temper,” Alderden said.
As to the hoax that could end up with one or both in prison:
“It certainly got big and whether anybody realized it that it would get the type of international media attention, I suspect this is probably beyond what they thought,” Alderden said.
Alderden also said investigators wanted to talk to Robert Thomas, a Denver man who claimed Heene had told him he was planning a media stunt to promote a proposed reality show. Thomas, a self-described researcher, sold his story to the Web site Gawker.com, which billed it with the headline: “Exclusive: I Helped Richard Heene Plan a Balloon Hoax.”
Web site editor-in-chief Gabriel Snyder confirmed that the site paid Thomas for his story but declined to say how much it paid him. In an e-mail to The Associated Press, Snyder said editors there had not contacted the Heene family or offered them money for their story, referring to Alderden’s reference to a deal being struck by a media outlet.
“No, that wasn’t us,” Snyder said.
Thomas, 25, did not return a message left by the AP.
In a statement, Gawker.com described how Thomas told them the hoax was part of Heene’s plan to shop a proposed reality series billed as “Mythbusters-meets-mad scientist.” Thomas told the site that the plan called for releasing a flying-saucer shaped balloon to garner attention for the Heene family, the proposed show and UFOs.
Thomas said the plan he knew about did not involve the Heenes’ children.
The producers of “Wife Swap” in a statement said they had been working with the family on developing a show but weren’t anymore. It was unclear whether that proposed show was the same one Thomas said he was working on.

Carrying signs that read “—- off we’re full”, they paraded up and down the seafron threatening bypassers.
One 18-year-old Asian woman was injured when the gang smashed her car window, showering her in glass and causing several cuts to her arms.
There were also reports that the group attacked a taxi driven by an Indian Sikh and an Asian shopkeeper.
In scenes reminiscent of the Cronulla riots, when 5,000 white Australians congregated in the Sydney beachfront suburb and attacked Lebanese immigrants, groups of men jumped on cars that were stopped at traffic lights and chanted racist slogans to the terrified passengers.
At one point the gang was reportedly heard singing “lets go —- with these Lebs”.
Jean Hay, the mayor of Manly, said the youths came from the north-west of Sydney and were not Manly residents.
The unrest was brought under control by the late afternoon. Police charged a 16-year-old for assaulting police and three others were cautioned for offensive and dangerous behaviour.
The violence in Manly was mirrored in the coastal towns of Shellharbour to Sydney’s south and Port Macquarie to the north. Fights were also reported as far north as Queensland’s Gold Coast, where hundreds of teenagers clashed on a popular family beach.

Back in April, police seized Patton’s computer from his apartment during an unrelated investigation, when they discovered a series of disturbing pictures, 27 in all.
“HPD sent the images to the FBI forensics laboratory for examination,” explained Donna Hawkins with the Harris County District Attorney’s office.
According to court documents, it was determined that the images were taken in November 2004, before Patton worked for Earthman. However, last month when police showed Patton the offensive pictures recovered from his computer, the investigator asked, ‘When was the last time you did this?’
Patton responded, ‘A year ago,’ which would have been on or about September 2008, while Patton was employed as the funeral director at Earthman.
A spokesperson for SCI says she is not aware of any other incidents, and released the following statement:
- “These allegations are deeply disturbing. They are contrary to everything the entire funeral profession stands for. The vast majority of people in the funeral industry are people with the utmost integrity. They are caring, compassionate professionals who daily help families through extremely difficult times.”
SCI says it will continue to cooperate with authorities. Abuse of a corpse is a class A misdemeanor. If Patton is convicted, he could spend up to a year in jail and could face up to a $4,000 fine.
Principal Charged With Sodomizing Underage Boy, Providing Alcohol To Four Minors

Whitesville, Kentucky – Allison Brant, a 31-year-old principal at St. Mary of the Woods Elementary School, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly having sex with a teen boy and supplying alcohol to four other teens.
Kentucky State Police say Brant was arrested when it was learned she had had sex with a 15-year-old boy multiple times and had supplied four other teens with alcohol at her residence.
According to authorities, Brant, who was the principal at St. Mary of the Woods Elementary, had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy through December of last year through January.
Arrest reports further allege Brant supplied four teenagers, aged 16-18, with alcohol at her Whitesville home in September.
The suspect has resigned from her position as principal at St. Mary’s.
Brant was booked in to Davies County Jail on charges of 3rd degree rape, three counts of 3rd degree sodomy, and 4 counts of unlawful transactions with a minor. She is being held on $37,000 bond.

Explosives and a marijuana farm were discovered at a Southern California home doubling as a state-licensed child day care center after a man blew off four of his fingers while mixing homemade explosives, authorities said Thursday.
Benjamin Kuzelka, 23, remained hospitalized at Loma Linda Medical Center and will be arrested when he his discharged, said sheriff’s Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez. His mother, Rebecca Kuzelka, 55, and brother, Grey Kuzelka, 21, were booked Thursday on suspicion of manufacturing illegal explosives, illegal growing of marijuana and child endangerment, he said.
Authorities went to Kuzelka Family Day Care after a local hospital reported late Wednesday that Kuzelka walked in and said he had shot himself in the hand. Doctors, however, became suspicious because the wound was inconsistent with a gun shot injury and they called authorities, Gutierrez said.
Investigators found explosives, a sophisticated marijuana-growing facility and evidence that the home had been used as a state-licensed child care facility as recently as the day before, Gutierrez said. The home is on a cul-de-sac in a remote area of Riverside County about 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
“We do believe that when all this illegal activity was going on, that children were present,” he said. However, no children were home at the time of the explosion, authorities said.
The explosives were hidden outside and detectives believe Grey Kuzelka moved them from the garage to the backyard while his brother was seeking medical treatment, said sheriff’s Sgt. Pat Chavez.
A hazardous device team responded to the scene and defused explosives Thursday in several controlled blasts throughout the day. They left the scene by the late afternoon, Gutierrez said.
The FBI, which is also investigating, said there was no immediate indication that the case was linked to any terrorist investigation or any threat to public safety.
FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller referred all other questions to Gutierrez, who said he did not know what types of explosives were found at the site or how powerful they were.
Grey Kuzelka had been arrested on Saturday for investigation of possessing marijuana and concentrated cannabis, and was released the next day on $5,000 bail. Riverside County court records show Benjamin Kuzelka has a string of convictions for drunken driving and drug possession dating back several years.
A child care advocate with the state’s community licensing division, which awards day care licenses, did not immediately respond to an e-mail or phone message seeking comment.
The facility was licensed for children ages 2 to 5 and was approved for no more than eight children at a time, Chavez said.
‘Most wanted’ sex offender found

A convicted sex offender who was placed on a list of the UK’s most wanted criminals thought to be living in Spain has been arrested on a Greek island.
Stephen Burnell, 56, of Scunthorpe, has been missing since 2007, when he failed to attend York Crown Court for trial.
He was convicted of offences including attempted rape in his absence and given a six-year jail term.
Burnell was the second man wanted under an appeal targeting fugitives abroad to be arrested in 24 hours.
Leeds-born Ronald Priestley, 69, was arrested in Malaga on Wednesday in connection with £4.25m of currency counterfeiting offences.
Burnell was detained on the Greek island of Crete on Wednesday.
His offences were carried out in North Yorkshire and included the attempted rape and indecent assault of a nine-year-old girl who he abused over four years.
Det Insp Keith Ruff, who led the North Yorkshire Police investigation into Burnell, said: “We are delighted that the law has caught up with this man.
“Our thoughts immediately go to the victim at the centre of the case and hope that she can now take some comfort from the fact that he is no longer at liberty.
“Burnell must now face up to his despicable crimes.”
‘Incredible achievement’
Last month Burnell was named as one of 10 men being targeted in an appeal by the Crimestoppers charity on the Costa Del Sol, known as Operation Captura.
Priestley was featured in the first appeals made under Operation Captura in October 2006.
Crimestoppers’ founder and chairman, Lord Ashcroft, said: “To have two most wanted men arrested within 24 hours is an incredible achievement.
“The fact is that more than half the criminals who have been featured under Operation Captura have already been caught.
“Therefore my message to the rest of them, still on the run, is that it doesn’t matter which island they are sunning themselves on, they should put their affairs in order and find a tenant for their villas, because there’s a good chance they will be soon on their way home.”

Mission Viejo, California – Mark Alan Jarosik, a 43-year-old Ladera Ranch man was charged Friday with soliciting the murder of an ex-girlfriend – requesting that the murder be videotaped so that he could watch it at Christmas.
According to documents, Jarosik was arrested in June on charges of attempted murder – after he allegedly raped his ex-girlfriend and then returned to her home several times to assault her.
In May, 2009, Jarosik was charged with two felony counts of forcible rape and one felony count of attempted sodomy by force.
After Jarosik’s mother and sister bailed him out in June, he returned to the victim’s home and attempted to break in, however Jarosik fled when the woman’s children saw his hands coming through the window.
Jarosik came back the next day and attacked the woman outside her home – banging her head against the curb. She was hospitalized with severe head trauma.
Jarosik was arrested a short time later on charges of attempted murder, forcible rape, battery, burglary, sodomy and violating a restraining order.
Did Jarosik learn his lesson? Apparently not.
Prosecutors now say Jarosik attempted to solicit the murder of his ex-girlfriend from behind bars. Investigators say Jarosik solicited another inmate to have his ex-girlfriend killed – requesting that the murder be videotaped so he could watch it at Christmas time.
Jarosik is also accused of violating an order of protection by sending the victim several letters from jail, expressing his affection for her – asking her to visit him, according to Farrah Emami of the District Attorney’s Office.
Jarosik, who is a former architect, was charged Friday with solicitation of murder and two counts of attempting to disobey a court order. He is now being held without bail.

On her first day of secondary school, a nervous 12-year-old Maria Mosterd was noticed by a much older boy from the technical college next door, wearing a baby-blue tracksuit and diamond jewellery. “He was big, fat and ugly, but he was impressive because all the boys respected him,” she said. “I was kind of scared of him. All the girls wanted him to talk to them. But he only said hello to me, so I thought I was special.”
They got chatting in the playground and two weeks later the boy, Manou, persuaded her to skip class, drove her to his student flat, gave her a joint and slept with her. She didn’t want to, but was told all girls had to learn how to do it. “You’ll do well, you’re the right size, you’re well taken care of, they like that,” he said. She didn’t really know what he meant, laughed at the smiley faces on his boxer shorts, and then passed out from the dope.
To Maria, Manou promised a bit of excitement in Zwolle, the “boring” provincial town where she lived with her Dutch mother, who taught drama at another school. Her father was from Suriname, but she didn’t know him. She called herself a “half-blood” and often felt she didn’t fit in.
Days later Manou drove her to another flat during morning class. It smelt of drugs and there were two men in the living room. “You’re going to have sex with them, sweetheart,” he said. “Are you mad? I don’t even know them,” she laughed. He took her into the kitchen, beat her “to make her listen”, then gave her a joint, and she went to the bedroom with the men. Afterwards, he dropped her back at school and she cycled home to her mum. She didn’t tell anyone. He promised her nice clothes and took her to McDonald’s for ice-cream. He gave her a mobile phone and called her every night in her bedroom at home, controlling everything, telling her when to go to the toilet, eat, go to bed. “I thought it was normal,” she said.
Manou was a “loverboy” – a phenomenon that has plunged the Netherlands into a wave of soul-searching. Loverboys, often in their 20s, single out insecure, underage girls in schools, coffee-shops, outside care homes, and woo them as “boyfriends”, promising love, clothes, status and excitement. Then they start to run them as prostitutes, drug-mules and gun-runners, or extort money from them, isolating them from their friends and families.
The girls, emotionally and financially dependant on their loverboys, find themselves locked into a cycle of abuse, sometimes made to work in windows in official red-light districts or being handed from flat to flat in several cities.
The decade-old problem in the Netherlands has now been catapulted on to the political agenda after Mosterd wrote an account of her four years from the age of 12 to 16 when she was forced to work for her loverboy. The book, Real Men Don’t Eat Cheese, has been a bestseller, a film is in pre-production, and politicians, police, teachers and parents are mobilising like never before.
The public is asking why, in a nation where prostitution above the age of 18 is legal and regulated, a crooked sub-culture of loverboys and their child-prostitute “girlfriends” exists. Mosterd’s family is suing her school for not properly investigating her truancy. Jamila Yahyaoui, of the Dutch Socialist party, which is pressing the government for more police action, more prosecutions and more shelters for victims, said: “Every year several hundred girls fall into the hands of loverboys, but only five cases lead to convictions. That has to change.”
Sitting in her living room, Mosterd, now 20, described her daily routine. “I would go to school on my bike. He’d be waiting for me. He’d give me different clothes to wear, otherwise my mother would smell the smoke on me. He thought of everything. He’d make sure I was back at home by 5pm, so I could have dinner with my mum.”
During the day she would be driven to houses and flats to sleep with men, often two or three at a time. There were rapes and beatings. She had to help single out other girls and deliver drugs and guns in her school bag – the police never noticed “a sweet little girl”.
“Manou had regular customers. Some were fathers, family men, company directors, school directors,” she said.
Eventually, after four years of truancy, a teacher confronted Mosterd, asking what was wrong. She didn’t know what to say, so she told a part truth about a recent ordeal where Manou had promised a “surprise” and driven her to “a house full of men”, saying she had to sleep with them all. She told the teacher about a vague gang rape. “I couldn’t work out why the teacher and then my mother made such a drama of it. By then it was all normal to me,” she said.
Mosterd’s mother, Lucie, is angry that the school never told her about the truancy, and that she never worked out what was going on, despite meeting Manou, who she thought was just a friend. “If it could happen to me as a mother, it could happen to anyone,” she said. “Maria would always shower when she came in, but I thought she was sweaty from cycling home. She never went out at night. I didn’t know what was going on in school time.”
Three men got short sentences for the gang rape. But Mosterd has not yet brought a case against Manou.
Amanda de Wind, who manages a project that runs the Netherlands’ only anonymous shelter specifically for escaped victims of loverboys, said: “I think this kind of thing is happening in every country, such as England, Germany, Russia, and accounts for 99% of the prostitution of young girls.”
In most of the cases she saw the girls had mental health problems; many had previously been victims of sexual abuse. “A loverboy can easily spot and target someone who has been raped,” she said.
Often a loverboy would take a girl with him to watch while he beat up someone else, she added. “The girls are told: ‘If you run away, I’ll go after your sister, your mother’.” Recently loverboys have branched out into drug-running and extortion, which is harder for the police to spot. “We have seen loverboys making the girls take out bank loans when they turn 18 and hand over the money, or register cars and insurance in their name,” De Wind said.
Mosterd said she wasn’t “in love” with her loverboy, but she lived for the happy moments, such as when he took her for an ice-cream on her 13th birthday. She never saw any money, but was offered limitless hash.
Asked if he gave her heroin, she said: “He didn’t have to make me addicted to drugs, because I was addicted to him.”

Vero Beach, Florida – Horace Dean, a 67-year-old Florida man, was arrested Thursday on charges he sexually assaulted a 4-year-old girl with a screwdriver.
According to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged sexual assault was discovered after the child’s mother brought her into a hospital to be examined for a suspected urinary tract infection.
Investigators say an investigation was launched after medical personnel at River Medical Center treated the girl for vaginal injuries. The mother told detectives that her daughter had been complaining about vaginal irritation for several weeks. The girl then told her mother and detectives that she had been abused by Dean with a screwdriver, according to the arrest affidavit.
Dean was booked into the Indian River County Jail on a charge of capital sexual battery. Bond in his case was set at $50,000.

Jeremiah Raymond Berry pleaded guilty on Friday to killing his sexually abusive father and feeding him to coyotes.
Jeremiah Raymond Berry was sentenced to three years in a Colorado Department of Corrections facility followed by 10 years of “intense supervised” probation. He appeared Friday afternoon before 22nd Judicial District Judge Douglas Walker, who accepted a plea deal reached between the district attorney and Berry’s public defender.
Berry, who cried throughout his sentencing hearing, had been charged with second-degree murder for the February 2008 death of his father, 42-year-old Jack Berry. Jeremiah Berry had faced 48 years in prison if convicted of that charge in Montezuma County. He had previously pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, but doctors concluded during two mental evaluations that he was competent to stand trial.
Jeremiah Berry shot his father in the head, and then dismembered his corpse to feed parts of it to coyotes, according to court documents. Authorities said they also found some of Jack Berry’s body parts encased in a bucket with concrete.
Jeremiah Berry told police he killed his father after his father raped him. He said his father told him that day he had been told by God his son needed a sex change to become his wife.
Poland okays forcible castration for pedophiles

WARSAW (Reuters) – Poland on Friday approved a law making chemical castration mandatory for paedophiles in some cases, sparking criticism from human rights groups.
Under the law, sponsored by Poland’s centre-right government, paedophiles convicted of raping children under the age of 15 years or a close relative would have to undergo chemical therapy on their release from prison.
“The purpose of this action is to improve the mental health of the convict, to lower his libido and thereby to reduce the risk of another crime being committed by the same person,” the government said in a statement.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said late last year he wanted obligatory castration for paedophiles, whom he branded ‘degenerates’. Tusk said he did not believe “one can use the term ‘human’ for such individuals, such creatures”.
“Therefore I don’t think protection of human rights should refer to these kind of events,” Tusk also said.
His remarks drew criticism from human rights groups but he never retracted them.
“Introducing any mandatory treatment raises doubts as such a requirement is never reasonable and life can always produce cases that lawmakers could never have even dreamt of,” said Piotr Kladoczny from the Helsinki Foundation of Human Rights.
“If somebody is of sound mind, we punish him. If he is sick, we try to cure him — that’s how it works in Polish law. This bill introduces both approaches. As far as I know, this makes our law the strictest in Europe on this issue,” Kladoczny said.
The bill, which also increases prison sentences for rape and incest, must still be approved by the upper chamber of parliament. This is seen as a formality as Tusk’s Civic Platform party holds a majority of its 100 seats.

Delhi Township, Ohio – Justice has been served in the case of 28-year-old James Bauer, who was sentenced Wednesday for raping two females – one of whom was a five-year-old girl.
According to court documents, Bauer was first arrested in January when it was learned that he had raped a woman at knife-point in her Dehli Township home after beating and choking her.
The prosecution produced at trial photographs, statements, and physical evidence to make their case against him.
Police also learned that Bauer forced a 5-year-old girl to perform sex acts on him, threatening that if she refused, he would beat her with a belt. Authorities say the incident occurred in 2004.
Bauer, who pleaded guilty to rape and sexual touching, was sentenced to ten years in prison.

A Stone Mountain man is in custody, without bond, for slapping a little girl at the Wal-Mart in Stone Mountain.
Police say 61 year old Roger Stephens was annoyed by the fussing girl, telling the child’s mother “If you don’t shut that baby up, I’ll shut her up for you.”
The girl, 2 year old Paige Mathews, continued crying, despite her mother’s attempts to calm her down. That’s when, according to the mother, Stephens approached them again near the store’s freezers and slapped the girl four or five times in the face.
Stephens then told the mother, “See, I told you I would shut her up.” He then walked away.
A store shopper confronted Stephens and stopped him until store security arrived.
Stephens reportedly told police that he could not shop because the girl was crying and could not take it anymore.
Charged with felony cruelty to children in the first degree, he remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
Stephens has a prior arrest, on a DUI charge from 1999, but, police say, he’s had a clean record since then.
The child had some slight redness to her face. Gwinnett County firefighters evaluated her injuries and released her at the scene.

MORROW, Ga. — Morrow police said they arrested a man after he beat up a woman who asked him to “be careful” at a Cracker Barrel restaurant.
Morrow police were called to the Cracker Barrel restaurant on Southlake Plaza Drive in Morrow Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m.Upon arrival, officers said they located the female victim and called for EMTs and Fire Department officials to assist. At the same time, the alleged offender in the case, Troy Dale West, of Poulan, Ga. was detained at the scene, police said.
Police said an investigation revealed that the female victim, identified as Tasha Hill, was entering the Cracker Barrel with her 7-year-old daughter as West was leaving the restaurant. As West was leaving, the exit door came close to striking the 7-year-old daughter of the victim, police said. Hill, by all witness accounts, politely asked West to be careful, officials said.
“The man slung open the door pretty hard and fast and I had to push my daughter out of the way. I turned to the man and I just said, ‘Excuse me sir, you need to watch yourself you almost hit my daughter in the face.’ And from there it just went downhill,” said Hill.
At that point, West became enraged and began to beat the victim in front of her 7-year-old daughter, according to police. Hill said she told West she was an Army servicemember and she did not want any trouble.West threw her to the ground and hit her in the head with his fists and feet, police said. During the exchange, witnesses said West could be heard screaming racial slurs towards the victim.
“He said, ‘You’re an f****** black (N-word) b****,’ is what he said,” said Hill. “Then he punched me in my face. And I fell to the ground and he proceeded to punch in my head and face.”Many witnesses stepped up to assist police in the investigation by providing written statements as to the events that transpired.
Cracker Barrel was also helpful to police in this investigation, Morrow police said.This case has been referred to the FBI Civil Rights Division for a possible violation of Federal Hate Crime Laws.Once officers obtained witness statements on the scene and looked at video surveillance from the Cracker Barrel, West was arrested and charged with battery, disorderly conduct, and cruelty to children in the first degree.West has bonded out of jail.
White man charged with Yale grad student Annie Le’s murder
Yet another young promising life snuffed out by white violence.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Raymond Clark III appeared in court and was charged with murder Thursday hours after his arrest in the killing of a graduate student whose body was found stuffed in the wall of the research building where they both worked.
Raymond Clark III, 24, kept his head bowed during the three-minute appearance in the death of Annie Le, also 24. He didn’t enter a plea and said, “Yes, your honor,” when asked whether he understood his rights. The judge then set bail at $3 million and sent him to a holding cell.
New Haven Police Chief James Lewis said Le’s death was a case of workplace violence and elaborated little except to say reports that the two had a romantic relationship were untrue “to my knowledge.”
“It is important to note that this is not about urban crime, university crime, domestic crime but an issue of workplace violence, which is becoming a growing concern around the country,” Lewis said, adding he wasn’t ruling out additional charges.
Clark’s attorney, David Dworski, did not return calls seeking comment. He has said Clark was “committed to proceeding appropriately” with police.
Clark was arrested earlier Thursday at a Super 8 hotel in Cromwell, about 25 miles north of the Ivy League campus, where he got a room shortly after being released from police questioning in Le’s death.
Le was found dead on Sunday, her body hidden in the basement wall of a building where she worked as a medical researcher, on the day she was to marry her college sweetheart, Columbia University graduate student Jonathan Widawsky. The Connecticut medical examiner said Wednesday that Le died of “traumatic asphyxiation.”
Clark was under constant surveillance after he was released, and police spent Wednesday night and Thursday morning staking out the Super 8 hotel where Clark was staying.
Shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday, police moved closer, shutting down the highway outside the hotel and blocking the road leading into the hotel as they made the arrest. Clark was wearing a white shirt with tan stripes and tan pants as police ushered him into the back of a dark sedan with tinted windows. The car then sped off toward the highway, and arrived at the New Haven police department about an hour later.
Richard Levin, the president of Yale, released a statement shortly after the arrest, saying Clark’s employment history gave no indication he was capable of such a crime.
“This incident could have happened in any city, in any university, or in any workplace. It says more about the dark side of the human soul than it does about the extent of security measures,” Levin said in a message sent to the Yale community.
The family of Le’s fiance, Jonathan Widawsky, said Thursday that they would not attend services for the “foreseeable future” at their temple on New York’s Long Island.
They said they want to “facilitate the safety, security and sensitivity” of services at Temple Beth El.
The family also thanked people who were involved in preparations for “a wedding that was not to be.”
Clark’s next court date is Oct. 6.

An elderly Indianapolis woman who says she was sexually assaulted by her younger boyfriend has died.
Metro Police say 80-year-old Kathleen Vargas called police to her home at 1029 North Kealing Avenue in July and told them she was attacked by 46-year-old Monte Ayres.
Police say when Ayres saw them, he took off, but was quickly apprehended.
Ayres already faces Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery, Rape, Criminal Deviate Conduct and Resisting Law Enforcement Charges. He could now face murder charges.
Police say Vargas died from injuries inflicted by Ayres.

A Muslim-hating Long Island man threatened to murder two women wearing traditional Islamic robes, then tried to run them over at a gas station, police said yesterday.
“This isn’t Halloween! Get into my car so I can f- – - the s- – - out of you, chop you into little pieces and kill you,” Joseph Ballance screamed, according to one of the women.
Ballance, a 23-year-old self-employed landscaper, admitted to investigators he wanted to cut up the women.
“They don’t belong here,” he told detectives, adding, “They shouldn’t be walking around like that.”
Ballance allegedly confronted Chervern Cartier, 49, and her 20-year-old daughter on Aug. 20 in the parking lot of a Hess gas station in Smithtown.
He was enraged because the women were dressed in black Muslim robes, with only their eyes showing, police said.
After the alleged threat, Cartier began writing down the license plate of Ballance’s 1994 Mercury.
He spat on their car, then got into the Mercury, put it in reverse and tried to back over them, the women told cops.
The women were unhurt and Ballance roared off.
“He is full of hatred,” Suffolk County Detective Sgt. Robert Reecks said. “He saw them, the way they were dressed, and it just set him off.”
Ballance was picked up by police at his Islandia home yesterday and held on a charge of second-degree aggravated harassment, a misdemeanor hate crime.
“This kind of behavior has no place in Suffolk,” County Executive Steve Levy said, adding the county would prosecute offenders “to the fullest extent of the law.”
n the mother’s statement, she said a white male came up behind them yelling, “Take that stuff off. What do you think it is, Halloween?” The man followed them into the store, continuing to yell.
The woman said the man then drove his car so close to hers that she couldn’t open the gas cap and he “kept striking a match on a matchbook like if I was to start pumping the gas he would throw the match at me,” according to the statement.
In a statement signed by Ballance, he said that while he was at the station, “two people dressed for Halloween looking like the wicked witch,” pulled in.
But Muslim leaders criticized the charge as too lenient, and pressed for federal civil rights charges.
Nayyar Imam, president of the Islamic Association of Long Island in Selden, said he would request to meet with authorities about the charges. “These charges have to be ramped up,” he said. “It’s unacceptable.”
Author Lisa Reardon Jailed for shooting Father’s behind

Detroit, Michigan – Lisa Ann Reardon, a 47 year old novelist was arrested Friday after she allegedly shot her father in the ass, hopped in a car and fled the scene.
According to police, Reardon shot her father, George Hicks, in the buttocks and leg as he retreated inside his Dexter Township home. She then reportedly fired a few more shots through the door before fleeing the scene in her car.
Investigators say Reardon called her sister from the car to say she was upset and that she “couldn’t believe that she missed and wouldn’t ever get a chance to do it again.”
Authorities believe Reardon showed up at her father’s residence around 7:30 p.m. with a 20-gauge shotgun and then opened fire after arguing with her parents. Washtenaw deputies found her a short time later and took her into custody. A motive has not yet been released as to why the attack occurred.
Reardon is the author of “The Mercy Killers”, “Billy Dead”, and “Blameless.” She has also written several plays including Dove, a story of a man who is driven insane by a bird.
Reardon was booked into the Washtenaw County Jail on charges of assault with intent to murder, felony firearm and commission of a felony with a motor vehicle advisory. A preliminary hearing has been set for Sept. 1st.
Jaycee Dugard Found After 18 Years, White Kidnapper and Rapist Fathered Her Kids

The man who allegedly abducted American schoolgirl Jaycee Lee Dugard almost two decades ago has admitted that he did a “disgusting thing” but went on to defend himself, saying the public would be surprised by the “heart-warming story”.
Convicted sex offender Phillip Garrido, 58, is being held on suspicion of various kidnapping and sex charges relating to the disappearance of Miss Dugard, who was aged 11 when she was snatched from her school bus stop in 1991.
Mr Garrido, gave a bizarre and sometimes incoherent phone interview to KCRA-TV from the El Dorado County jail.
According to investigators Mr Garrido allegedly raped Miss Dugard and fathered two children with her, the first when she was about 14. Along with Miss Dugard, who is now 29, the children, both girls now 11 and 15, were also kept hidden away from the world in the backyard compound of the Garrido house in California.
In the interview, Mr Garrido he said he had not admitted to the kidnapping and that he had turned his life around since the birth of his first daughter 15 years ago.
“Wait until you hear the story of what took place at this house,” Mr Garrido said.
“You are going to be completely impressed. It’s a disgusting thing that took place with me at the beginning. But I turned my life completely around and to be able to understand that, you have to start there.
“You’re going to find the most powerful story coming from the witness, the victim – you wait. If you take this a step at a time, you’re going to fall over backwards and in the end, you’re going to find the most powerful heart-warming story.”
His wife, Nancy Garrido, 54, has also been arrested, and authorities have alleged she was with Mr Garrido, who is on lifetime parole, during the kidnapping in South Lake Tahoe.
Miss Dugard, now aged 29, was reunited with her mother on Thursday after revealing during an interview with her kidnapper’s parole officer that she was the victim of one of California’s oldest unsolved crimes. It was her first known appearance in public since her abduction.
She disappeared when a man and a woman pulled her kicking and screaming into a car at a school bus stop just yards from her home in South Lake Tahoe.
After nearly two decades, the woman, who has undergone DNA tests and interviews, was last night in a motel meeting her natural mother for the first time since she disappeared.
But amid joy at the family reunion, painful details of the woman’s ordeal began to emerge.
Police saidMr Garrido, a 58-year-old registered sex offender and religious fanatic, and his wife have been arrested in connection with the case and were expected to be charged on Friday with rape, kidnapping, lascivious behaviour with a minor and other offences.
Police said they kept Miss Dugard and her two daughters aged 11 and 15, in a “backyard within a backyard”.
Neither Miss Dugard nor her children had ever been to school or visited a doctor. The three were in good health, but “living in a backyard for 18 years does take its toll”, said Fred Kollar, El Dorado County undersheriff.
The events that led to Miss Dugard’s identity being revealed began on Tuesday when Mr Garrido took the young girls with him to try and enter the campus of the University of California, Berkeley, to enquire how to stage a religious meeting.
Mr Garrido operated a blog titled “Voices Revealed”, and operated a home church to espouse his doctrine.
Part of one blog entry read: “The Creator has given me the ability to speak in the tongue of angels in order to provide a wake-up call that will in time include the salvation of the entire world.”
The interaction between him and the girls aroused the suspicion of police guards, who ran a background check and found he was still on parole for a 1971 conviction for child rape.
The next day he appeared for a meeting at the parole office with his wife, the two young girls and a woman called Allissa. “During the course of those discussions it became clear that Allissa was in fact Jaycee Dugard,” said Mr Kollar. The Garridos were arrested on the spot.
Dozens of investigators collected evidence at the couple’s cordoned off home on Walnut Avenue in Antioch, near San Francisco Bay, where Miss Dugard was held. Police believe she was taken there directly after her abduction.
Terry Probyn, Jaycee’s mother, was flying to northern California from her home in the south of the state, after first receiving a call on Wednesday from the FBI telling her that a woman had turned up at police station claiming to be her daughter.
Her stepfather, Carl Probyn, who witnessed her abduction, said Jaycee’s reappearance was “definitely a miracle”.
“You lose hope and you just want to recover something, you know?” he said, adding that the FBI had told Mrs Probyn that they “have Jaycee and the people that did this”.
Mother and daughter had first spoken on Wednesday afternoon, he said.
“Jaycee remembers everything,” he said. “They talked back and forth and she had the right answers to all my wife’s questions.”
Mrs Probyn and her 19-year-old daughter Shayna, Miss Dugard’s half-sister, took a flight early on Thursday to the town of Concord to be reunited.
“I’m feeling great! … It’s like winning the lotto. I’ve gone through hell,” Mr Probyn said, conceding that police and even members of the extended family had regarded him with suspicion for months after the kidnapping.
The Probyn’s marriage suffered under the strain and the couple eventually separated. Mrs Probyn lives in the Los Angeles suburb of Riverside, while Mr Probyn lives in Orange County.
The abduction took place on the morning of June 10, 1991. The blonde-haired, blue-eyed little girl was wearing a pink windbreaker, a white T-shirt, pink trousers and white trainers. Despite the detailed description, an extensive manhunt and numerous false sightings that raised the family’s hopes, she was never seen again.
Helen Boyer, a 78-year-old neighbour, described the Garridos as friendly.
“If I needed something, they would be the first I would call on,” said Mrs Boyer, who cared for Mr Garrido’s elderly mother.
“They were real good neighbours,” she said. “Real nice people.”
Ernie Allen, president of the National Centre for Missing & Exploited Children, said : “The Jaycee Dugard case is huge. There are some people who assume that when a child disappears there is no hope.”
Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for Kate and Gerry McCann, told the Mirror that the news gave them hope that their missing daughter Madeleine, who disappeared in Portugal in 2007, could be found.
“They are extremely pleased. It further strengthens their determination never to stop looking for their missing daughter.”

SAN MATEO, Calif. – A teacher being hailed as a hero said Tuesday he had no time to think when he encountered a 17-year-old boy who detonated two pipe bombs at a Northern California high school while armed with a chain saw, sword and explosives.
Teacher Kennet Santana, 35, is one of a number of Hillsdale High School staffers credited with subduing the boy, who police say walked into the San Mateo school Monday morning and set off two pipe bombs in a hallway near a library.
Santana told The Associated Press he saw the commotion and was walking cautiously toward it when he found himself face to face with the teen.
“He had a black tactical vest on with lots of pockets,” Santana said by phone Tuesday. “We were maybe six feet away from each other at this point. We’re talking seconds. There was not time for a lot of thinking.”
Santana stopped the boy with a bear hug and threw him to the floor. He was then joined by Principal Jeff Gilbert and school counselor Ed Canda, and the three held the boy down until police arrived.
There was little risk the other bombs would go off because the boy hadn’t lit the fuses.
“He was not struggling,” Santana said. “It was almost like he was defeated.”
The explosions caused neither serious damage nor injury, but the 1,270-student school was evacuated, and Santana and the other staff members were credited with stopping a situation that could have played out much more tragically.
Evidence collected so far suggests the boy had planned the attack for months, and that he had a number of specific targets on the school faculty whom he believed had wronged him, San Mateo police Chief Susan Manheimer said.
“He had planned in brutal and chilling detail this action over months,” she said. “He clearly was out to demonstrate he could get back at the school administration.”
Police Lt. Mike Brunicardi lauded the work of Santana and other staff members who helped subdue the boy.
“The teachers acted heroically and risked their own lives,” Brunicardi said. “(They) were not taking into consideration their personal safety. They were taking the greater good into mind to save 1,270 students and about 100 school staff members.”
Police quickly arrived and arrested the teen on suspicion of six felony counts of attempted murder, igniting a destructive device with intent to murder, possession of destructive devices, possession of destructive devices on school grounds, possession of destructive devices with intent to injure or destroy property and assault with a deadly weapon.
The boy, whom police have not identified because he is a minor, is being held in San Mateo County’s juvenile hall while the district attorney reviews the evidence and decides whether he should be tried as an adult.
Police and agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives searched the apartment where the boy lives on Monday night.
“They did find materials consistent with making explosives, specifically pipe bombs,” Brunicardi said.
Student Olivia Pappas, 14, was in her tenth-grade classroom when she saw the boy walk by. He was wearing black pants and a black, hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head, she said.
“Then I heard a crashing sound, and my teacher looked out and we saw a guy run,” she said. “My hands were shaking. It was so scary.”
Back on campus Tuesday, Santana and other teachers discussed the incident. Students were scheduled to return on Wednesday, and teachers, students and others will gather to discuss the incident in the morning, then restart classes in the afternoon.
“We had more people running to the explosion than we had running away from the explosion,” Gilbert said. “So I think that speaks to the staff and just what they feel about the students.”
White man Arrested for Hiding Dismembered Body In Home

CINCINNATI — A Delhi Township man is facing charges after police reportedly found a dismembered body hidden in his home.
Police arrested 30-year-old John Strutz on Sunday evening following a search of his home on Greenwell Avenue.
Strut’z attorney, Simon Groner, says his client couldn’t find his wife, Kristan, 28, on Saturday and called police after checking with a relative who also didn’t know where she was.
Strutz is currently charged with tampering with evidence and obstructing official business. According to police documents, he hid the human remains in an attempt to “impair its value or availability as evidence” in their investigation. He is not charged with murder at this time.
Groner said his client gave police permission to search his home, and that as far as he knew, the only items seized were several bottles of bleach.
Police have not released any information about the body; however, 9News has learned that it was of an adult and was significantly dismembered.
“It’s freeking me out. I always thought this was a very safe neighborhood, with safe neighbors. I’ve never seen an investigation of a dismembered body… Or a murder. I don’t want anything like that to happen to my kids or to me,” said neighbor Tara Hanning.
Neighbors are asking if he might have killed his wife and dismembered her.
Detectives are currently searching the riverbank near the Anderson Ferry. Divers were in the Ohio River near the ferry late Monday afternoon. Officials are not saying if this search has any connection to the case.
Kristan worked at a nearby nursing home, but had been on leave since an ankle injury and was due to return to work in November. Co-workers at the nursing home tell 9News they are greatly upset Kristan is missing and hope that she is still alive.
Sources tell 9News that a murder charge is likely.
Strutz appeared in Hamilton County Court Monday morning, where a judge ordered him held on over $1 million.
Groner asked for a low bond because the couple has young children, but authorities persuaded the judge to set a high bond while they continue to investigate.
Specifically, he received a $1 million bond for the tampering with evidence charge and an additional $10,000 bond for the charge of obstructing official business.
Crime scene investigators remained at the home all day.
Officials have not released any other information at this time.

Police are on the hunt for a gang of young boys who tried to hang a seven-year-old with a homemade ‘noose’ in a game.
Bradley McLachlan had been playing with the gang, believed to be just seven, eight and nine, before they restrained him and strung him from a tree with a length of rope.
Terrified Bradley was then left for dead – the loop choking him as he hung just inches from the ground.
Fortunately he managed to lift himself out using his arms and a passer-by helped him back to his grandmother’s house.

A month after the incident at Bransbury Park, Portsmouth, Hants, detectives are no closer to finding out who tried to hang Bradley.
And his family have now come forward with a fresh appeal for information.
Bradley’s mother Sharleen, 30, from Portsmouth, Hants, said she was overcome with shock when she found out what had happened to her son.
She said: “I felt sick and shocked that someone could do this, not least that other children had done it.
“This wasn’t just a game that went wrong, it’s far more serious. I just can’t get my head around it.” Within an hour of the incident, on Tuesday July 28, rope-burn marks appeared around Bradley’s neck – prompting his distressed family to call an ambulance.
Mrs McLachlan said: “There were marks under his chin and they went right up around the back of his head, that’s when we called the ambulance.”
Bradley was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, Portsmouth, where doctors checked him over before giving him the all-clear.
Police feared Bradley may have died had he not managed to escape from the noose.
Mrs McLachlan added: “The police officers said he could have died if it wasn’t for him being so small and light.
“If he’d been heavier, they said he wouldn’t have been able to lift himself out.”
Bradley’s grandmother, Jenny McLachlan, 48, said: “He could have died, it was awful.
“He’d only been out playing for a few minutes, the next thing we knew an older boy had brought him to the door.
“He had marks around his neck where some other kids had tied the rope.”
Bradley made a statement to police after the incident and the investigation is still ongoing.
Detectives say the gang is too young to be prosecuted but would like to talk to them about the consequences of their actions.
Detective Sergeant Fiona Holland said: “We need to speak to the children involved to ensure they understand the possible consequences of the incident and ensure whilst they are out playing during the summer holidays they are also staying safe.”

The shocking report was revealed following the arrest of a New York rabbi accused of trafficking in human organs.
The article,They plunder the organs of our sons, nonetheless, was heavily criticized by Israeli media as well as officials who accused its writer, Donald Bostrom, of being “anti-semite.”
Bostrom, however, says he has based the story on testimony from Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza and has denied accusations that he was motivated by anti-Semitism.
In the article, he mentions an incident in which a Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers apparently for hurling stones at their vehicle in the northern West Bank city of Nablus.
The Palestinian, who was shot in his chest, stomach and both legs, was moved to an unknown location while being in critical condition. Five days later, his body was returned to his family with a visible scar from his neck to stomach.
Autopsy revealed that some of his organs were removed.
Bostrom believes a shortage of organs for transplant in Israel is the real cause behind the violent crime and mentions a 1992 government campaign to recruit new donors.
At the same time that this organ campaign was going on, young Palestinian men were disappearing and being delivered back to their villages five days later at night, dead and cut open, he writes.
Responding to the shocking report, an Israeli military spokesman denied the charges and said Palestinians killed by Israeli forces were routinely subjected to autopsies.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry has also condemned the report, saying This piece is so blatantly racist and can induce to hate crimes in such a way that we think authorities need to take care of the matter.
The ministry is also reportedly considering summoning the Swedish ambassador to protest against his government policies as well as the article.
The Israeli Embassy in Stockholm has also sent a strong diplomatic protest to the Swedish government.
Bostrom said another Swedish newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, refused to publish his piece “with no explanation” while Aftonbladet, a popular newspaper in Sweden, published the article without making any editorial changes.

Buena Park, California – Ryan Alexander Jenkins, a 32-year-old reality show contestant who appeared on the VH1 reality show “Megan Wants A Millionaire” is wanted for the murder of his swimsuit model wife, Jasmine Fiore.
According to the Orange County District Attorney’s office, Jenkins has been charged with murder after Jasmine Fiore was found Saturday stuffed nude inside a suitcase and thrown into a dumpster in Buena Park, California.
Investigator believe Jenkins, who describes himself as an investment banker from Calgary, has fled to Canada. They have also released the gruesome details of Fiore’s condition when she was found.
Police say Jenkins removed Fiore’s teeth and fingers after the attack – presumably to impede the process of identifying the body while he made his escape. They also say Fiore’s body was badly beaten, crushed and she appears to have been strangled.
An investigation has revealed that the couple checked into a San Diego hotel on August 13 after attending a poker party. Fiore has not been seen alive since that night. Jenkins reported the woman missing on Saturday, but then fled when the body was found.
Although authorities have not released a motive, sources say the murder may have been a reaction to text messages Fiore exchanged with an ex-lover. Police believe Jenkins may have seen the text messages found on Fiore’s phone, which triggered a violent reaction.
Jenkins’s profile on the VH 1’s website describes him as an investment banker from Calgary who says “he has left many amazing women in his life primarily because he wanted more women.”

MIDLAND, Ind. — The girlfriend of the man charged in the fatal shooting of his 14-month-old son was arrested Friday on charges related to the case.The Greene County Sheriff’s Department said Tanya McIntyre faces charges of false informing and obstruction of justice.
Investigators think McIntyre threw the gun that fired the shot that killed Travis Bohannon into a weedy, wooded area near the home of the boy’s father, Ronald Bohannon, 29, who was charged with reckless homicide and several other charges.
Police said McIntyre then lied to police about what happened in the aftermath of the Aug. 16 shooting in Midland, about 25 miles southeast of Terre Haute.McIntyre was held Friday in the Greene County Jail, pending a court appearance.Police arrested Bohannon Thursday. He told investigators that he was carrying a cocked handgun that accidentally fired while he pushed his son’s stroller, striking the boy in the head.Travis and his 4-year-old brother were at their father’s home for a weekend visit as Bohannon and his wife are in the midst of a divorce, police said.

Americans look at Thomas Jefferson and see the one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence, a statesman, a former president and one of the founding fathers,’ however; when I look at him, I see the face of a rapist. When Jefferson first met Sally Hemings, his slave through inheritance, she would have been no more than 15 or 16 years old. It is rumoured that when she returned from France with him, that she was already pregnant with his child.
It was widely suggested within his own life time that he kept a light skinned negro concubine. You see, Sally was 3/4 white and was described as a handsome light skinned woman with long dark hair in one of the few known descriptions of her. Jefferson’s children through his wife Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson, denied the relationship, however; Jefferson himself did not publicly answer the rumours. The only slaves that Jefferson freed were the children of Hemings and he petitioned the government for two of her sons to stay in Virginia after emancipation. At the time, a slave had to leave the state within one year of manumission.
There are those that to this day vehemently deny that Jefferson fathered Sally’s six children despite the DNA evidence. It is my belief that such denial is not based in the simple fact that it would prove that he was a lecher but that he chose a woman of color.
On the other side of the coin are those that believe the oral, written, and DNA evidence. They often refer to the relationship as an illicit love affair, citing that Sally had the opportunity to stay in France where slavery was outlawed, rather than returning to the United States with Jefferson. Assuming that Sally had chosen to stay in Paris, what would an uneducated 1/4 negresss do with no money to support herself and her unborn child? She chose to return because Jefferson gave his word that he would free her children and offer her a life of comfort relative to the other slaves at Monticello.
Jefferson may have felt love for Sally but how can we possibly term this relationship a love affair? Once they returned to the US, he had the power to have her flogged, or even put to death. At anytime he could have sold her children away from her. For a relationship based in love to exist, both parties must be equal and due to the power differential between Jefferson and Hemings what occurred cannot be described as anything other than rape. Some have even had the nerve to refer to Hemings as the first Black first lady of the United States as a way of further legitimizing the relationship between the two, however; to sanitize it and call it anything other than rape, is to once again violate her spirit.
Jefferson was not the first or last White man to sneak into the slave cabins. One of the reasons White women argued so vehemently for the abolition of slavery, was to save the poor overwhelmed White man from the negro temptress. It was not uncommon to see near white or light skinned children resembling the master working on the plantation. The Black woman was and still is blamed for her own rape. Victim blaming began with women of color and continues to this day.
No matter how many times Black women have angrily contested the use of the term love affair between Hemings and Jefferson, it continues to be the most common descriptor by those who believe the DNA evidence. This assumes that Hemings actually had the power to deny Jefferson sexual access, or that Jefferson had a right to Sally’s body for the purposes of sexual gratification. Both suppositions are erroneous. Due to the patriarchal nature of gender relations, many men believe that they exist with the right to access women’s bodies and that is specifically grounded in the power imbalance between the genders. If we can acknowledge in a modern context that a power imbalance exists between men and women, how much more likely is it that this same imbalance existed between Jefferson and Hemings?
Some may look back at Jefferson and simply claim that he was a man of his time and that he should not be judged outside of historical context, however; in my mind a rapist is a rapist. What he did at the time may not have been considered a violation due to current race and gender relations, however; today we can correctly name his actions. Sally did not have the power to consent to his advances even if she was so inclined; this simple fact must be affirmed not only to honour the memory of Hemings but to change the social understanding that Black women’s bodies are unrapeable. We are not naturally licentious whores who exist to fulfill the sexual fantasies of depraved racist men. We are women that must be accorded the right to control over our bodies without punishment for any decisions we make in that regard.
Police use Taser to light Homeless Man on Fire

It didn’t take Lancaster police long to discover a potential danger with their newly issued stun guns: They can set their targets on fire.
One day after officers received Tasers this week, two of them were patting out the flames on Daniel Wood, a 31-year-old homeless man who reportedly had been inhaling a chemical from a spray can to get high. Wood was not seriously injured but was taken to a hospital as a precaution, said Lancaster Police Chief David Bailey.
“Clearly, this is not the way we’d hoped to get started,” Bailey said. “But I’m glad the suspect is OK, and this gives us an opportunity to review how we will do things from this point.”
The makers of stun guns warn that such fires are extremely rare but a risk nonetheless, and Lancaster’s written policy for the department’s seven new Tasers says that the devices shouldn’t be used when flammable materials are evident.
Bailey said his officers acted appropriately given the situation and Wood’s combative behavior.
“There was no recognition on the part of these officers that this would be the result,” Bailey said. “They didn’t know the vapor was present and would flash. … It wasn’t as if the suspect was doused in a chemical.”
CNN reported last month that a man in Australia who had been huffing a chemical poured gasoline on himself as he charged police. An officer used a stun gun, and that man burst into flames and was seriously injured.
And a man died in Texas in 2007 after police hit him with pepper spray and then jolted him with a stun gun, according to published reports.
Authorities in both cases said the men were carrying lighters in their hands, so the source of ignition couldn’t be determined for certain.
In Lancaster, the officers responded just after 8 p.m. Monday to a report of a man darting into traffic and yelling threats outside the Kmart on Memorial Drive.
When the two officers arrived, Wood was holding a can of keyboard cleaner in his hand, and one of the officers saw him inhale the chemical, according to a written report.
Wood took off running and, once caught, kicked the officers and tried to bite them, the report says. That’s when an officer used his stun gun, hitting Woods in the chest and an arm with the charged prongs.
“I then observed a flame ignite and I quickly shut off the Taser,” wrote the officer, identified only as H.W. Lanham. “(I) approached him and patted out the flame.”
Wood has a history of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and alcohol and drug charges in Fairfield County Municipal Court.
He was charged on Monday with resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and abusing harmful intoxicants and taken to the Fairfield County jail. He was released about 11:30 p.m. Monday and rearrested yesterday when he failed to show up in court.
Arizona-based Taser International has sold 430,000 devices to law-enforcement officers at 14,750 agencies. Spokesman Steve Tuttle said the warnings about possible ignition are clear but that the incident described in Lancaster “is beyond freakish.”
Lancaster police officers have spent the last four months training under an instructor certified by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy, Bailey said. Officers also had to pass a qualifying test.
Spokesmen for both the State Highway Patrol and the Columbus Division of Police, where most troopers and officers carry stun guns, said their training is extensive, and that their respective policies also warn of the risk of fire.

Many people were shocked by the video that surfaced recently of three young Caucasian men apparently swarming a lone black man in a strip mall parking lot on a hot summer night in the Vancouver Island city of Courtenay.
But having to fight because of his skin colour was no surprise for that black man, 38-year-old Jay Phillips. It was just history repeating itself.
His father also had to defend himself in B.C. because he was black.
On Friday, David Samuel White, 19, Adam David Huber, 24, and Robert William Rodgers, 25, were charged with assaulting Phillips on the evening of July 3, in an apparent racist attack captured on video and broadcast on the Internet.
The trio were allegedly involved in a separate attack on a young Caucasian man later that evening, RCMP Const. Tammy Douglas told The Province.
Phillips and his mother, Kirsten, who is Caucasian, responded to the charges in separate interviews with The Province.
Both remembered Jay’s father Reginald Phillips, who died before Christmas, as a man who taught his son to be proud of his colour and to defend himself.
Reginald and Kirsten first started dating in the 1960s in Prince Rupert.
“He was the only black man in town, dating a white woman, so of course he had to fight plenty,” Jay Phillips said with a laugh.
Racially-motivated fights continued in various B.C. towns, Kirsten said.
Reginald taught Jay Phillips to box from a young age, both mother and son recalled. Those skills are apparent in the July 3 video, as Phillips, a 210-pound man who can bench press 300 pounds, fought three men to a draw at the very least.
But it’s the way Jay has acted after the fight that Reginald would most appreciate, Kirsten said.
“He’d be extremely proud of the way Jason is handling this with his brain.” “He’d be beaming; he’d be so proud that I did this the right way,” Jay said. “My dad told me stand up for yourself — don’t be racist. Don’t take s— from anyone.” The family is well aware that the video of Phillips repelling three brawlers has become an Internet sensation. But the ugly incident can be used to teach and spark dialogue, they say.

“I was at a rally [in Courtenay against racism] and eight mothers came up to me and said the same thing has happened to their kids,” he said.
“There’s a mentality bubbling up [with bullying and fighting in Courtenay] and I don’t want to see it explode.” Phillips says he will eventually show the now-famous fight video to his baby son, Malik. And like his father taught him, he’ll teach the boy to box.
“I’ll let him know racism is out there. I just hope he doesn’t have to go through this.” Before they were charged, the alleged attackers appeared in a TV interview with faces obscured under hooded sweaters. They admitted to racist language easily heard on the video, but claimed racial motivation in the fight was “blown out of proportion.” “We’re not white supremacists,” one said.
Police have presented evidence to Crown prosecutors and if the three are convicted, a judge will decide whether hate-crime law is warranted during sentencing, RCMP say.
Phillips told The Province he’s convinced he was the victim of a hate crime, but he’s not at all interested in vengeance on the three.
In fact, he hopes they get proper instruction — in the justice system.
“They’re young and stupid, so hopefully they’ll learn from this,” Phillips said.
“You start running around and doing this kind of stuff and sooner or later, someone loses their life.”

REDCLIFFE: AN Aboriginal teenager who collapsed unconscious when his jaw was broken with a fence paling has told of a chilling ordeal with 10 attackers.
Woonun Willoughby’s mother Patrice Ann Power said her 18-year-old son was lucky to be alive after attempting to stop a late-night street fight at Kippa-Ring.
The family claims white supremacists, aged in their twenties and sporting Nazi tattoos on their arms, surrounded the Redcliffe High student and three of his friends.
“They wanted to speak with one of the boys Woonun was talking to but Woonun suggested there was a better way to solve the situation,’’ Mrs Power said.
“He was met with loud racist abuse and then smashed across the face with a fence paling with a nail in one end.
“He collapsed unconscious to the footpath with blood pouring from the hole in his face made by the nail, but fortunately his friend Justin bravely stood his ground and stayed with Woonun.’’
Redcliffe police this week downplayed fears of growing youth violence in Redcliffe.
But a Crimestoppers Redcliffe Committee source said violence was becoming more of a concern.
“We are very much aware of the youth violence problem,’’ she said.
Jarryd Williams, manager of the government-funded Redcliffe Youthspace, said youth violence was sporadic on the Peninsula.
“When these attacks occur probably nine out of 10 of them are racially motivated,’’ he said.
Woonun said he could not remember much of the attack but knew he needed to get to a safe spot and get an ambulance.
“Me and my mate weren’t even planning on doing anything, we were just chilling,’’ he said.
“The next thing I know, Im in hospital.’’
Woonun had been walking home with a friend after a night of playing video games when they met up with two former school mates, just prior to the bashing at about 12.30am Saturday.
He was taken to Caboolture Hospital because Redcliffe was overloaded.
“He had a titanium plate in his mouth. His jaw and lower teeth will be wired for six to eight weeks,’’ his mother said.
Mrs Power warned people about racial violence on the Peninsula, and the group that attacked her son.
“They don’t fear anyone and they’re thriving in Redcliffe,’’ she said.
Sen-Sgt Darryl Keys said Redcliffe police were not aware of the incident.
He said no complaint had been made on behalf of Mr Willoughby adding the local police were managing the levels of assaults (nine since July) on the Peninsula.

Neo-Nazi Neil Lewington had “chilling” ambitions of forming a racist hit squad along the lines of Hitler’s Waffen SS.
Calling itself the Waffen SS UK, he envisaged teams working in twos to plant bombs all over Britain.
His plans were found in a hand-written manual called Waffen SS UK Members Handbook, discovered in his bedroom.
After defining terrorism and the law, he set out his “statement from the command council”.
It said: “A new group has been formed, the Waffen SS UK. We have 30 members split into 15 two-man cells.
“We are highly trained ex-military personnel and will use incendiary and explosive devices throughout the UK at random until all non-British people as defined by blood are removed from our country. This is no joke.
“In this country the most serious domestic terrorist threat is the Alf (Animal Liberation Front), start rewriting the books?
“Finally our motto: You cannot stop what can’t be stopped.”
Brian Altman QC told the jury: “You may conclude that this was a chilling mission statement, a statement of intention by this defendant, one he took very seriously and, quite clearly, an intention he had begun to put into effect.”
Under another title, Targeting/Attacking Pakis, was written “general surveillance, names and addresses, observing Asians in cars, planting motion-sensitive bombs, hate mail, hit-and-run by vehicles”.
He also used a statement linked to Combat 18, described as “Britain’s leading neo-fascist group”.
During the war, the feared Waffen SS acted as the Nazi party’s combat section and ran death camps in which millions of people were murdered.
Counter-terrorism police found nothing to suggest the existence of a UK group following Lewington’s arrest.
Although he had sympathies for fascist groups, there was no proof that he was a member of any organisation.
A source said: “The SS handbook, this was something he was planning – or at the very least gives an insight into his mind.
“He was a nobody who thought this would make him a somebody.”
White woman drowns rabbits, posts evidence on Facebook

Akron, Ohio – Elizabeth Carlisle, a 20-year-old Ravenna woman was arrested on animal abuse charges after she drowned two injured rabbits inside a Petland store and then posted a photo of the deed on her Facebook page.
A Petland franchise located at the Chapel Hill Mall in Akron was closed down Wednesday after a photo on Carlisle’s Facebook page showed her holding dead rabbits after the animals were drowned. A caption under the photo boasted that she drowned the rabbits because they were injured.
Investigators say Carlisle posted the photograph on July 28. An entry on her page credited the store manager with taking the photograph. She went on to explain the animals were drowned after they became injured during a fight.
Petland headquarters condemned the incident, announcing it had revoked the store’s license. Animals recovered from the store are being transferred to other locations.
“Petland will in no way, shape or form tolerate any abuse of animals in it’s care,” stated officials in a press release. “We are outraged at this gross violation of Petland’s animal care standards.
Carlisle was booked into jail on two counts of harming a companion animal. She is scheduled to be arraigned on August 17.
Carlisle’s father, Joe Carlisle, defended his daughter, describing her as a respectful young woman simply working her way through college.
“She is a good, good person who is innocent totally as a human being of any and all wrongdoing,” insisted Carlisle.

Sharonville, Ohio – Timothy Armstrong, a 43-year-old Ohio man was arrested after he allegedly lured a 7-year-old girl into his home and then raped her.
According to Sharonville police, Armstrong lured a 7-year-old girl into the home he shares with his mommy on the pretense that she could play with his “pet”.
Investigators say the girl wandered into his home, where he then ordered her to disrobe, watch a pornographic movie and then perform oral sex on him.
He then allegedly tried to rape her until he was interrupted by a knock on the door.
When the girl’s mother came to the front door looking for her daughter, Armstrong ordered her to be quiet while he refused to answer the door, according to court documents.
When the girl’s father came to the door, Armstrong reportedly told him that he might have seen the girl playing in the backyard with a dog.
“So he went around the back only to see Mr. Armstrong letting her out of the back door of the house,” said Lt. John Cook of the Sharonville Police Department.
Armstrong was booked into jail on charges of kidnapping and rap of a child under 13. Bail was set at $2 million.

A Greek woman has appeared in court accused of setting fire to a British tourist in Crete after he allegedly groped her in a bar.
Stuart Feltham, 23, from Swindon, is recovering from second-degree chest and stomach burns in a private clinic.
Maria Fanoudaki, a 26-year-old student, said she poured a drink over Mr Feltham after he made inappropriate advances, but denied setting fire to him.
She faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison if she is convicted.
The trial in the town of Iraklion in northern Crete was adjourned until Monday.

Ms Fanoudaki’s lawyer Nikos Maniadakis said: “He fondled my client’s breasts and buttocks and she poured her drink over him and left.
“Shortly afterward she heard cries and saw her friends trying to extinguish him.”

The story has made national headlines in Greece, where some have hailed the woman as a heroine.
Mr Feltham’s parents have insisted reports their son sexually harassed the woman were “absolute nonsense”.

Gary Fisher, 47, has been charged with the murder of Sasha Jones, 17, whose body was found dead in a car.
Police had stopped the vehicle using a ’stinger’ device to burst its tyres after a 20-mile pursuit through country roads.

Fisher was injured in the incident on the A487 near the seaside village of Aberaeron, west Wales.
He was arrested at the scene but spent two days in hospital under police guard recovering from his injuries after he lost control and crashed into a camper van, injuring two more people.

White man kills 3 women, wounds 9 others in Shooting Rampage at Pittsburgh Gym
Another deadly example of how white men continue to blame others for their own failures…with woman as the target of choice.
George Sodini finally got the attention he wanted. After years of hoping women would take notice of him, Sodini allegedly entered a Pennsylvania health club Tuesday night and murdered three women in cold blood before turning a gun on himself.
Investigators need not puzzle over the motives for Sodini’s rampage; the 48-year-old suspected killer spelled them out in blood-chilling detail in an online diary.
“These are the rambling messages of a likely psychotic” and display characteristics of a man who has been “severely depressed for a long time,” forensic psychologist Naftali Berrill said of Sodini’s writing.
The image that emerges from his blog is that of a loner — a psychopath, routinely rejected by women who spent a year casing the gym and plotting his revenge on the “the young girls here [that] look so beautiful as to not be human, very edible.”
A combination of feelings of neglect, loneliness, insanity and perhaps a fear of losing his job may have all contributed to what set off Sodini, a seemingly by-the-book computer programmer from Pittsburgh, experts said.
The loner, who feels he was neglected as a child and seeks attention through killing, fits the classic profile for a mass shooter, law enforcement officials said. Forensic psychologists who study killers told ABC News.com that judging from Sodini’s writings he was likely severely depressed and felt that the shooting was the one way he could garner people’s interest in him.
“He fits the profile of a shooter,” said former FBI agent and ABC News consultant Brad Garrett, “He spends a lot of time in his blog talking about how he was mistreated as a child. He felt he went through life feeling no one cared for him, loved him or nurtured him.”
“As he got older, he likely isolated himself more and more and was able to justify his disturbing behavior. His perceived rejection justifies his actions,” he said.
Sodini writes that no one suspects what he is planning. Roberta Kozel, 39, who co-owns the tanning salon Sodini frequented as recently as Saturday, said he seemed awkward but not dangerous.
“He didn’t seem like a violent person, he seemed like the typical class nerd. He was a little odd but you could never figure out what it was. Maybe it was shyness, I’m not sure. He just reminded me of the class nerd,” she said.
“It certainly could have been us, it could have been anybody. Obviously he methodically thought this out. He frequented the gym as much as he frequented the salon.”
Murders ‘Purposeful and Conscious’
Tellingly, Sodini’s online diary — posted on the Web for anyone to read — left instructions that he wanted his notes published and studied following his suicide.
That behavior, reminiscent of Cho Seung-hui, the Virginia Tech shooter who sent a manifesto to NBC News to be aired after his plot, is a classic move of shooters who feel this is the only way to get attention, said Berrill.
“‘Practice Papers’ left on my coffee table I used or the notes in my gym bag can be published freely. I will not be embarrassed, because, well, I will be dead. Some people like to study that stuff,” Sodini wrote.
“This is all part of a grandiose posture,” said Berrill. “There was a moment when he decided to stop being a sad sack that couldn’t get women to look at him, or get dates, or have sex. He hatched a scheme to kill people and he knew if he did he would finally become a subject of interest.”
“The murders were a purposeful and conscious effort to be a grand, powerful man of the moment. He couldn’t achieve that through social means, like having a career or girlfriend, so he did by becoming a killer,” said Berrill.
Sodini, who had been employed since 1999 as a systems analyst at the Pittsburgh law firm K&L Gates, writes of his inability to meet or connect with women, despite wanting to desperately.
He said he had not had a girlfriend since 1984. In one instance he says he has no children, but later claims another woman, Lee Ann Valdiserri, had his baby in 1991. Public records indicate Valdiserri died in 2004. “I guess some of us were simply meant to walk a lonely path. I have slept alone for over 20 years. Last time I slept all night with a girlfriend it was 1982. Proof I am a total malfunction. Girls and women don’t even give me a second look ANYWHERE. There is something BLATANTLY wrong with me that NO god dam person will tell me what it is,” he wrote on his blog.
Sodini writes that he had previously planned the shooting for January but “chickened out.”
He complains about feeling neglected and bullied by his mother and older brother, a classic grievance for high-profile murderers, said Garrett.
Sodini refers to his mother as the “central boss” and calls her “vindictive” and “very dominant.”
He describes his brother Michael Sodini, as a “big bully, twice the size of most others.”
White Terrorist Army “Blackwater” Founder Implicated in Murder
Is it time for a “War on White Terror” to be declared?
A former Blackwater employee and an ex-US Marine who has worked as a security operative for the company have made a series of explosive allegations in sworn statements filed on August 3 in federal court in Virginia. The two men claim that the company’s owner, Erik Prince, may have murdered or facilitated the murder of individuals who were cooperating with federal authorities investigating the company. The former employee also alleges that Prince “views himself as a Christian crusader tasked with eliminating Muslims and the Islamic faith from the globe,” and that Prince’s companies “encouraged and rewarded the destruction of Iraqi life.”
In their testimony, both men also allege that Blackwater was smuggling weapons into Iraq. One of the men alleges that Prince turned a profit by transporting “illegal” or “unlawful” weapons into the country on Prince’s private planes. They also charge that Prince and other Blackwater executives destroyed incriminating videos, emails and other documents and have intentionally deceived the US State Department and other federal agencies. The identities of the two individuals were sealed out of concerns for their safety.
These allegations, and a series of other charges, are contained in sworn affidavits, given under penalty of perjury, filed late at night on August 3 in the Eastern District of Virginia as part of a seventy-page motion by lawyers for Iraqi civilians suing Blackwater for alleged war crimes and other misconduct. Susan Burke, a private attorney working in conjunction with the Center for Constitutional Rights, is suing Blackwater in five separate civil cases filed in the Washington, DC, area. They were recently consolidated before Judge T.S. Ellis III of the Eastern District of Virginia for pretrial motions. Burke filed the August 3 motion in response to Blackwater’s motion to dismiss the case. Blackwater asserts that Prince and the company are innocent of any wrongdoing and that they were professionally performing their duties on behalf of their employer, the US State Department.
The former employee, identified in the court documents as “John Doe #2,” is a former member of Blackwater’s management team, according to a source close to the case. Doe #2 alleges in a sworn declaration that, based on information provided to him by former colleagues, “it appears that Mr. Prince and his employees murdered, or had murdered, one or more persons who have provided information, or who were planning to provide information, to the federal authorities about the ongoing criminal conduct.” John Doe #2 says he worked at Blackwater for four years; his identity is concealed in the sworn declaration because he “fear[s] violence against me in retaliation for submitting this Declaration.” He also alleges, “On several occasions after my departure from Mr. Prince’s employ, Mr. Prince’s management has personally threatened me with death and violence.”
In a separate sworn statement, the former US marine who worked for Blackwater in Iraq alleges that he has “learned from my Blackwater colleagues and former colleagues that one or more persons who have provided information, or who were planning to provide information about Erik Prince and Blackwater have been killed in suspicious circumstances.” Identified as “John Doe #1,” he says he “joined Blackwater and deployed to Iraq to guard State Department and other American government personnel.” It is not clear if Doe #1 is still working with the company as he states he is “scheduled to deploy in the immediate future to Iraq.” Like Doe #2, he states that he fears “violence” against him for “submitting this Declaration.” No further details on the alleged murder(s) are provided.
“Mr. Prince feared, and continues to fear, that the federal authorities will detect and prosecute his various criminal deeds,” states Doe #2. “On more than one occasion, Mr. Prince and his top managers gave orders to destroy emails and other documents. Many incriminating videotapes, documents and emails have been shredded and destroyed.”
The Nation cannot independently verify the identities of the two individuals, their roles at Blackwater or what motivated them to provide sworn testimony in these civil cases. Both individuals state that they have previously cooperated with federal prosecutors conducting a criminal inquiry into Blackwater.
“It’s a pending investigation, so we cannot comment on any matters in front of a Grand Jury or if a Grand Jury even exists on these matters,” John Roth, the spokesperson for the US Attorney’s office in the District of Columbia, told The Nation. “It would be a crime if we did that.” Asked specifically about whether there is a criminal investigation into Prince regarding the murder allegations and other charges, Roth said: “We would not be able to comment on what we are or are not doing in regards to any possible investigation involving an uncharged individual.”
The Nation repeatedly attempted to contact spokespeople for Prince or his companies at numerous email addresses and telephone numbers. When a company representative was reached by phone and asked to comment, she said, “Unfortunately no one can help you in that area.” The representative then said that she would pass along The Nation’s request. As this article goes to press, no company representative has responded further to The Nation.
Doe #2 states in the declaration that he has also provided the information contained in his statement “in grand jury proceedings convened by the United States Department of Justice.” Federal prosecutors convened a grand jury in the aftermath of the September 16, 2007, Nisour Square shootings in Baghdad, which left seventeen Iraqis dead. Five Blackwater employees are awaiting trial on several manslaughter charges and a sixth, Jeremy Ridgeway, has already pleaded guilty to manslaughter and attempting to commit manslaughter and is cooperating with prosecutors. It is not clear whether Doe #2 testified in front of the Nisour Square grand jury or in front of a separate grand jury.
The two declarations are each five pages long and contain a series of devastating allegations concerning Erik Prince and his network of companies, which now operate under the banner of Xe Services LLC. Among those leveled by Doe #2 is that Prince “views himself as a Christian crusader tasked with eliminating Muslims and the Islamic faith from the globe”:
To that end, Mr. Prince intentionally deployed to Iraq certain men who shared his vision of Christian supremacy, knowing and wanting these men to take every available opportunity to murder Iraqis. Many of these men used call signs based on the Knights of the Templar, the warriors who fought the Crusades.
Mr. Prince operated his companies in a manner that encouraged and rewarded the destruction of Iraqi life. For example, Mr. Prince’s executives would openly speak about going over to Iraq to “lay Hajiis out on cardboard.” Going to Iraq to shoot and kill Iraqis was viewed as a sport or game. Mr. Prince’s employees openly and consistently used racist and derogatory terms for Iraqis and other Arabs, such as “ragheads” or “hajiis.”
Among the additional allegations made by Doe #1 is that “Blackwater was smuggling weapons into Iraq.” He states that he personally witnessed weapons being “pulled out” from dog food bags. Doe #2 alleges that “Prince and his employees arranged for the weapons to be polywrapped and smuggled into Iraq on Mr. Prince’s private planes, which operated under the name Presidential Airlines,” adding that Prince “generated substantial revenues from participating in the illegal arms trade.”
Doe #2 states: “Using his various companies, [Prince] procured and distributed various weapons, including unlawful weapons such as sawed off semi-automatic machine guns with silencers, through unlawful channels of distribution.” Blackwater “was not abiding by the terms of the contract with the State Department and was deceiving the State Department,” according to Doe #1.
This is not the first time an allegation has surfaced that Blackwater used dog food bags to smuggle weapons into Iraq. ABC News’s Brian Ross reported in November 2008 that a “federal grand jury in North Carolina is investigating allegations the controversial private security firm Blackwater illegally shipped assault weapons and silencers to Iraq, hidden in large sacks of dog food.” Another former Blackwater employee has also confirmed this information to The Nation.
Both individuals allege that Prince and Blackwater deployed individuals to Iraq who, in the words of Doe #1, “were not properly vetted and cleared by the State Department.” Doe #2 adds that “Prince ignored the advice and pleas from certain employees, who sought to stop the unnecessary killing of innocent Iraqis.” Doe #2 further states that some Blackwater officials overseas refused to deploy “unfit men” and sent them back to the US. Among the reasons cited by Doe #2 were “the men making statements about wanting to deploy to Iraq to ‘kill ragheads’ or achieve ‘kills’ or ‘body counts,’” as well as “excessive drinking” and “steroid use.” However, when the men returned to the US, according to Doe #2, “Prince and his executives would send them back to be deployed in Iraq with an express instruction to the concerned employees located overseas that they needed to ’stop costing the company money.’”
Doe #2 also says Prince “repeatedly ignored the assessments done by mental health professionals, and instead terminated those mental health professionals who were not willing to endorse deployments of unfit men.” He says Prince and then-company president Gary Jackson “hid from Department of State the fact that they were deploying men to Iraq over the objections of mental health professionals and security professionals in the field,” saying they “knew the men being deployed were not suitable candidates for carrying lethal weaponry, but did not care because deployments meant more money.”
Doe #1 states that “Blackwater knew that certain of its personnel intentionally used excessive and unjustified deadly force, and in some instances used unauthorized weapons, to kill or seriously injure innocent Iraqi civilians.” He concludes, “Blackwater did nothing to stop this misconduct.” Doe #1 states that he “personally observed multiple incidents of Blackwater personnel intentionally using unnecessary, excessive and unjustified deadly force.” He then cites several specific examples of Blackwater personnel firing at civilians, killing or “seriously” wounding them, and then failing to report the incidents to the State Department.
Doe #1 also alleges that “all of these incidents of excessive force were initially videotaped and voice recorded,” but that “Immediately after the day concluded, we would watch the video in a session called a ‘hot wash.’ Immediately after the hotwashing, the video was erased to prevent anyone other than Blackwater personnel seeing what had actually occurred.” Blackwater, he says, “did not provide the video to the State Department.”
Doe #2 expands on the issue of unconventional weapons, alleging Prince “made available to his employees in Iraq various weapons not authorized by the United States contracting authorities, such as hand grenades and hand grenade launchers. Mr. Prince’s employees repeatedly used this illegal weaponry in Iraq, unnecessarily killing scores of innocent Iraqis.” Specifically, he alleges that Prince “obtained illegal ammunition from an American company called LeMas. This company sold ammunition designed to explode after penetrating within the human body. Mr. Prince’s employees repeatedly used this illegal ammunition in Iraq to inflict maximum damage on Iraqis.”
Blackwater has gone through an intricate rebranding process in the twelve years it has been in business, changing its name and logo several times. Prince also has created more than a dozen affiliate companies, some of which are registered offshore and whose operations are shrouded in secrecy. According to Doe #2, “Prince created and operated this web of companies in order to obscure wrongdoing, fraud and other crimes.”
“For example, Mr. Prince transferred funds from one company (Blackwater) to another (Greystone) whenever necessary to avoid detection of his money laundering and tax evasion schemes.” He added: “Mr. Prince contributed his personal wealth to fund the operations of the Prince companies whenever he deemed such funding necessary. Likewise, Mr. Prince took funds out of the Prince companies and placed the funds in his personal accounts at will.”
Briefed on the substance of these allegations by The Nation, Congressman Dennis Kucinich replied, “If these allegations are true, Blackwater has been a criminal enterprise defrauding taxpayers and murdering innocent civilians.” Kucinich is on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and has been investigating Prince and Blackwater since 2004.
“Blackwater is a law unto itself, both internationally and domestically. The question is why they operated with impunity. In addition to Blackwater, we should be questioning their patrons in the previous administration who funded and employed this organization. Blackwater wouldn’t exist without federal patronage; these allegations should be thoroughly investigated,” Kucinich said.
A hearing before Judge Ellis in the civil cases against Blackwater is scheduled for August 7.
Police: Boulder man called teen racial slur, ‘Mike Tyson’

BOULDER, Colo. — A Boulder transient faces a hate-crime charge after he was accused of calling a black teenager a racial slur, referring to him as Mike Tyson and challenging him to a boxing match.
Luke Barrett, 26, was arrested on suspicion of a bias-motivated crime and child abuse at about 8:30 p.m. Friday after two teenagers waved down a police officer and reported being harassed, Boulder police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said.
The teens told officers an apparent homeless man walked up to them in the 1200 block of College Avenue and called the black 15-year-old a derogatory name before putting up his arms in a fighting stance, Huntley said.
Barrett is suspected of saying something to the effect of, “Hey Mike Tyson, let’s box,” according to Huntley. The teenager said he didn’t want to fight and stepped back. At that point, the suspect turned and started running away, she said.
The teens tried to follow, but they lost sight of him. When police arrived, the teens provided a detailed description of the suspect, and officers found him a short distance away, Huntley said.
Police stopped Barrett, and he admitted to approaching the teens and using language with the intent of “starting trouble,” Huntley said. Barrett also was under the influence of alcohol, she said.
Barrett didn’t physically assault the teenagers, but Huntley said he was arrested because “the victim was shaken by what happened.”
White man confesses to triple murder, blames meth

ELGIN, Ore. — A case that began with the grisly discovery of a human hand turned into a triple murder investigation Monday, ending with the dramatic arrest and on-camera confession of the lead suspect in the case.
The investigation began July 24, when a child netting goldfish in a small pond southwest of Elgin found a severed hand, which led investigators to the nearby body of Shannon McKillop, 51, of Elgin.. Gregory Alvin Cook, 42, was the prime suspect in her murder.
On Monday, Union County District Attorney Tim Thompson revealed that the bodies of 50-year-old Frank Scaramuzzi and 28-year-old Jeremiah Johnston were found on private timberland north of Elgin. Both had been considered persons of interest in the death of McKillop.
Thompson identified Cook as the suspect in all three deaths. Thompson says Cook and the three victims all knew each other, and were last spotted together in mid-July.
Cook was captured Monday in Thurston County, Washington. Deputies there worked with Union County Oregon police.
Shortly after he was taken into custody, Cook admitted on camera to a TV crew that he committed the murders, and blamed his actions on meth.
“I did it,” said Cook, “and I apologize highly to all the families and everyone affected.” Cook told the TV crew that meth caused him to commit the crimes.
“It changes who you are as an individual when you’re under the influence of that stuff for days and weeks at a time.”
Cook is described as self-employed house painter who has also used the name Gregory Alvin Mitts.
Authorities say all four knew each other, and the three victims were unemployed.
Cook is charged with murder in the death of McKillop, and aggravated murder in the deaths of Scaramuzzi and Johnston, Thompson said. He added that no decision has been made on whether to seek the death penalty on the aggravated murder charges, which were brought under a provision covering multiple victims.
Criminal records indicate Cook was sentenced to 25 months in prison on a 1994 charge of assault with a weapon from Colville, Wash.
Suspect identified in LaGuardia bomb scare

NEW YORK (CNN) — Authorities evacuated LaGuardia Airport’s Central Terminal for several hours Saturday after a man with a bag containing wires and a battery entered the airport, a Port Authority spokesman said.
The man is in custody, and authorities have allowed passengers back into the terminal, Port Authority spokesman John Kelly said.
A law enforcement official close to the investigation identified the man as Scott McGann, 32, of New York. He had tickets on a United Airlines flight to Chicago, as well as connecting flights that would have ended in Oakland, California.
The law enforcement source said the suspect approached a security checkpoint in the Central Terminal as he was carrying a backpack with two square six-volt batteries taped together, and with wires protruding from them.
Port Authority police told him not to move, the source said, but he did not comply and appeared as though he tried to “push a switch,” but “nothing happened.”
The backpack also contained unspecified electronic devices and personal items, the source said.
McGann has three prior arrests in the New York area, the source said. The most recent involved June charges of tampering with evidence and resisting arrest. He was also arrested twice in 2008, the source said.
New York Police Department’s Deputy Commissioner for Public Information Paul Browne had told CNN earlier that the man, whom he did not identify, raised the suspicions of a Transportation Security Administration employee because he appeared “intoxicated.”
Kelly, who also didn’t identify the man, had said he “was just acting crazy,” and offered no further details.
Browne had described the man’s bag as a duffel, which he said contained batteries that were hooked up to wires.
The city’s bomb squad was called in to examine the device, Browne said, and determined that it was not dangerous.
“It was a hoax device,” he said.
Asked whether the man had said anything about a bomb, Browne said, “Clearly, it appeared he wanted people to think that’s what he had.”
The terminal was evacuated shortly after 5:20 a.m., but by midmorning, all concourses in the terminal were reopened, with the exception of Concourse C, Kelly said. Authorities are treating the concourse, which serves American Eagle, United and United Express flights, as a crime scene, Kelly said. iReport: Watch crowds start moving back into the terminal
Concourse C will likely reopen in a few hours, he said.
Authorities had stopped flights from taking off or landing at the airport, but by a little after 9 a.m., flights were slowly resuming, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Holly Baker said.
Baker said flights were expected to be back to normal in a few hours.
It was not known how many passengers were in the terminal at the time of the evacuation, although scores of them with luggage lined the roads outside the airport after the terminal and entrances were closed.

Central Terminal is one of four terminals in the airport, which is in the borough of Queens. It is about eight miles from Manhattan.
The incident disrupted travel plans for many passengers, including CNN iReporter Jose Ojeda, 24, who had been sitting on the tarmac on a plane headed to Chicago, Illinois, when the evacuation was ordered.
“We were all ready to go,” Ojeda, of Bronx, New York, said of his flight, which he said had been scheduled to leave at 6:10 a.m.
“They didn’t make any announcement other than, ‘You need to evacuate,’” he said. “I thought it was standard procedure, but then once we got out of the plane, they kept pushing us back and back, out of the terminal [and] out of the actual airport.
How foreign exchange students are abused in America

SCRANTON, Pa. – In a few weeks, thousands of foreign exchange students will arrive in the United States for what they hope will be a rewarding time of study and cultural enrichment. Shortly after that, Danielle Grijalva’s phone will start ringing, and her e-mail inbox will begin filling up. It happens every year.
While most of the 30,000 exchange students who come to the U.S. each year have positive experiences, some find themselves stuck in bad homes with little prospect of getting out — especially if the agency that placed them doesn’t take their concerns seriously or even blames them for the problems.
These are Grijalva’s kids.
From her base in Oceanside, Calif., the 43-year-old stay-at-home mom has almost single-handedly taken on the foreign exchange industry, intervening in abuse cases, questioning placement agencies‘ marketing practices, and bashing the U.S. State Department for what she says is lax regulation.
The industry says she exaggerates problems and makes reckless allegations. Two defamation lawsuits have been filed against her.
But the watchdog’s complaints about the dozens of programs that import foreigners were recently borne out in northeastern Pennsylvania, where a Scranton woman was charged last week with child endangerment for allegedly placing exchange students in filthy homes with ex-convicts and not enough food. Grijalva helped one of the teens file a complaint with the State Department and offered advice to local child welfare investigators on how to proceed.
Her involvement was to be expected. Since launching her tiny nonprofit five years ago — the Committee for Safety of Foreign Exchange Students — Grijalva (gree-HAHL’-vah) has answered thousands of e-mails and phone calls from aggrieved students and their worried parents back home.
“By the time they reach CFCES, they are so exhausted and so emotional, but so elated to find someone who will say, ‘We will help you as much as we can,’” Grijalva said.
She has racked up some notable successes. Besides getting students out of bad situations, her organization successfully pushed for regulatory reform in 2006 and investigated an Allentown-based placement agency that Pennsylvania authorities shut down earlier this year.
She’s also made enemies. On a recent Sunday morning, Grijalva was served with a state lawsuit that claims she defamed one of the largest exchange programs, California-based Council for Educational Travel, USA, by making “false statements” about it while intervening in the case of a Norwegian student in Minnesota.
A French agency, Programmes Internationaux d’Echanges, and two of its U.S. affiliates sued her for defamation in North Carolina two years ago, and won a preliminary injunction against her while the case proceeds.
Grijalva, who has countersued P.I.E., says the lawsuits are intended to shut her up.
But critics complain that she paints with an overly broad brush, resulting in a distorted picture of the U.S. exchange program. Since the majority of students go home happy, they say it’s unfair and inaccurate to malign an entire industry based on scattered cases of abuse and neglect.
“She tends to speak in fairly broad generalizations that are probably pretty hard to prove,” said John Hishmeh, executive director of the industry’s accrediting body, the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel. “When you look at (the recent Pennsylvania scandal) and somebody says, ‘That’s how they all are,’ that’s reckless.”
Grijalva makes no apologies for her activism or her tactics.
“Some people are trying to say I have an agenda, a vendetta. We’re talking about the health, safety and welfare of children that are treated like cars being moved off the lot,” she said. “This is not about me. This is about the efforts of CSFES to protect these kids.”
In that regard, she has a lot of satisfied customers.
Danish student Emily Larsen says her host family in Denver belonged to a fundamentalist church that denounced Jews, Muslims, homosexuals and others. Larsen, who was raised secular, says she was made to go to the church 10 hours a week, and that it “brainwashed” her and pressured her to join. When her placement counselor ignored her pleas for help, she turned to CSFES.
“I felt like my whole life was totally falling apart,” said Larsen, of Copenhagen, whose experience left her so traumatized that she has been seeing a psychologist. “In two days, Danielle got me out.”
Nemesia Lago, a Colombian whose teenage son was one of five exchange students found to be living in deplorable conditions in Scranton, says Grijalva responded immediately to her request for help and was dogged in her advocacy. “She became like an angel,” Lago, of La Guajira, wrote in an e-mail.
Grijalva says exchange agencies often bring students to the U.S. without first securing host families for them, leading to hasty, ill-advised placements like the ones in northeastern Pennsylvania. And many agencies require students to first approach their local coordinators with problems, threatening them with repatriation if they seek outside help.
She used to be part of the industry, working as a placement counselor between 2002 and 2004 and taking pride in matching exchange students with caring, qualified host families. But she was disturbed by her company’s marketing practices, and quit the business altogether in the wake of a case of sexual abuse — involving a placement by another representative — that she says the company tried to cover up.
Shortly thereafter, Grijalva began CSFES, which she operates on a shoestring, relying on a network of more than 1,000 volunteers around the country. A former legal secretary who left the work force 13 years ago to raise her three children, she is close to finishing her college degree and plans to go to law school.
Lana Simovic of Podgorica, Montenegro says her son was sent home by his exchange agency after only two months for what she described as relatively minor rules violations, prompting a State Department inquiry into the program’s actions. She called Grijalva a godsend.
“Danielle Grijalva is (the) only person that gave me hope that in America there are reasonable people,” she wrote in an e-mail.

“SPARTANBURG, SOUTH CAROLINA – A Campobello teen is accused of raping one neighbor’s dog and another neighbor’s two little girls. Now the dog has died and charges against the teen have been upgraded.
After receiving word that the dog died possibly because of the rape. Fox Carolina called the Solicitor’s office to see if now new charges would be filed against the teen. An hour later Solicitor Trey Gowdy called to say that the charges will be upgraded to the “most serious animal cruelty charges they have on the books.”
The dog’s owner Sylvia Jones says, “At first when it happened, I couldn’t eat or sleep every morning I’m waking up thinking Princess is there but she’s not.
Princess’s little dog house is empty now. Sylvia Jones says she died of internal bleeding this past Sunday because of the rape. “The vet told me she had a little blood in her urine and that she was bleeding inside.”
Sylvia says she and her husband would not have believed Cory Williamson raped Princess exactly two weeks to the day she died had they not seen it with their own eyes.
“When I got here we were laying on the deck looking at him and he had his pants down and he was doing sexual activity with the dog like a man would do to a woman.”
The Jones family says Princess wouldn’t eat or play anymore after the attack. “She (Princess) couldn’t even sit down, her bottom was swollen sore.”
Sylvia says she knows Princess was just a dog, but she wants people to know that Princess was also a part of her family. A family that now has been forever changed. “She looked so pitiful. It’s sad, there was nothing I could do for her.”
Neighbors worry that if Williamson is accused of raping a dog and molesting two girls in the same neighborhood, who knows what might happen next.
Neighbor Bill Johnson says, “As a community we shouldn’t have to watch our kids every second they’re playing. We want him out of this neighborhood.”
The Solicitor’s office says it wants to make sure Williamson is out of this neighborhood while he’s awaiting trial on the molestation and dog rape charges so they are requesting that his bond be revoked. Williamson’s bond hearing will be held next Friday.”
Wannabe Samurai fatally stabs girlfriend

Newark, DE – Michael Kolesar, 21, was arrested Sunday after fatally stabbing his girlfriend with a four-foot long samurai sword.
According to the New Castle County Police, Kolesar and his girlfriend, Angel Zurlo, became engaged in an argument after leaving a bar. The fight reportedly became physical when they got home.
Police were dispatched on a call about a stabbing that involved the use of a sword. When officers arrived on scene, Kolesar greeted them at the door, urging: “She’s in there, she’s in there, she’s dying, please come help her.”
Officers found Zurlo dead in the back room of the apartment. As police took Kolesar into custody, he reportedly pleaded with them, saying “I didn’t mean to do it, I killed her, she means everything to me,” according to the arrest report.
A witness told police Zurlo carried the sword into the room. When Kolesar tried to grab the sword away, they struggled with the sword until Zurlo became severly injured.
Kolesar told police he was intoxicated and remembers choking – but not stabbing Zurlo. He said he was “in a rage and probably at fault,” according to the arrest report.
Kolesar was booked into the Newcastle County Jail on charges of manslaughter and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. A second male arrested at the scene was released without charges.
White man arrested for making terrorist threats against telemarketer
So what else is new? Why not just hang up?
Fostoria, OH – Charles W. Papenfus, 43, was arrested after he reportedly threatened a telemarketer – stating that he would burn down their building and kill the employee’s families.
According to the suspect’s attorney, the fiasco began when an extended warranty company contacted Papenfus to inform him the factory warranty on his Ford Focus had expired.
Papenfus reportedly became upset because he had purchased the vehicle as a used car that hadn’t been covered by the factory for years. He repeatedly asked the telemarketer why they were calling him about a warranty for a car he purchased used for $3,000.
After hanging up, Papenfus reportedly called the telemarketer back to complain again. The exchange between Papenfus and the telemarketer degenerated into a verbal confrontation where both parties began insulting each other, according Papenfus‘ attorney.
During the confrontation, Papenfus allegedly threatened to burn down the telemarketing firm’s building and kill the families of those employed by the company, according to court documents.
Prosecutors say Papenfus‘ delivered the threats “without provocation” and went so far as to identify specific workers he intended to target. Papenfus‘ wife blamed the outburst on prescription painkillers that she claimed he was taking for a wrist injury.
Papenfus was booked into the St. Louis City Jail on charges of making terroristic threats. Bond has now been set at $40,000.

A father who had no interest in his four-year-old daughter hurled her off a 120ft cliff to avoid paying child support, a prosecutor told a court yesterday.
Cameron Brown, 47, is accused of killing Lauren Sarene Key after splitting from his British-born girlfriend.
Deputy District Attorney Craig Hum told a Los Angeles court that Brown killed Lauren in November 2000 because he didn’t want to pay about $1,000 a month in child support.
But defence lawyer, Pat Harris countered that it was an accident when the girl fell from Inspiration Point in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Hum portrayed Brown as an uncaring father. He argued that Brown and Lauren went out to the cliff where nobody could see them, and he ‘hurled’ her into the Pacific Ocean.
‘This man picked up Lauren, whom he fathered but was never a father to, and threw her off a cliff into the water below,’ Hum said.
Brown, wearing a dark suit and a red tie, stared at Hum during his opening statement and showed no reaction.
Harris gave a different account of his client’s relationship with his daughter, insisting the case was nothing more than ‘character assassination’.
He dismissed the prosecution’s contention that it was a ‘good-versus-evil’ struggle between Brown and the child’s mother, Sarah Key-Marer, a British immigrant.
‘It was two parents trying to work out arrangements so they could have a happy child,’ Harris said.
Inspiration Point, near Los Angeles, where Brown allegedly threw his daughter to her deathHarris said Brown carried a picture of Lauren in his wallet, gave her gifts and toasted with his friends when he learned he would get visitation rights.
Two weeks before her death, Brown filed court documents seeking more visits with Lauren, Harris said.
‘It doesn’t make sense,’ he said.
Brown was tried three years ago, but a mistrial was declared after a jury deadlocked on the severity of the crime.
Some jurors favoured a first-degree murder conviction, while others voted for second-degree murder or manslaughter.

A Mansfield man crept into the home of his former girlfriend early yesterday and, believing he was acting on God’s orders, slit their 6-year-old daughter’s throat, authorities said.
Worried that the mother planned to move away with young Kaitlynn, Kristopher L. Griffin slashed a window screen and clambered through a bulkhead before killing the girl, a prosecutor said in court yesterday.
“The defendant indicated that the only way he could save his daughter was to kill her, that God ordered him to do it,’’ said Cynthia Brackett, an assistant Bristol district attorney, recounting an interview Griffin gave to police.
The 35-year-old Griffin left a note seeking “forgiveness for sending Katie to heaven’’ and begged police to shoot him after he was picked up wandering barefoot in the rain in the quiet before dawn, according to police. But in court yesterday he said nothing, staring at the floor and sobbing as he faced charges of murder and home invasion. A plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.
The judge ordered Griffin held without bail until his next court appearance in August and directed he undergo psychiatric evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital.
“I think it’s pretty apparent that there are some serious mental health issues here,’’ Joseph Krowski, Griffin’s public counsel, said after the arraignment.
The ghastly nature of the slaying stunned police and local residents. “It’s horrific and heartbreaking; there’s no other way to say it,’’ Mansfield Police Chief Arthur M. O’Neill said.
After investigators had finished collecting evidence from the Chilson Avenue duplex where Kaitlynn was killed, her tiny bicycle remained in the driveway, resting on training wheels. A pink helmet dangled from the handlebars, matching the frame. Neighbor Jimbo Tardivo choked up as he considered it. Kaitlynn would wave and tell playful stories from her second-floor window whenever she saw him below, he said.
“She was a little peanut, a little star in that window, and I’m going to miss her,’’ Tardivo said, his chest heaving under a Harley-Davidson T-shirt as he sobbed. “She was so adorable.’’
Tardivo said Griffin and his girlfriend, who was not identified by police, appeared to have a rocky relationship. Police and prosecutors said the couple broke up two weeks ago, and Griffin went to live in a camper in the yard of a friend’s house on Ware Street, 1 1/2 miles away.
At about 4:05 yesterday morning, the owners of that house called 911 to say that Griffin, who authorities say has been hospitalized multiple times for mental illness, had disappeared and might be in danger of harming himself. Twelve minutes later, the homeowners called again to say that they had discovered a frightening note indicating that Griffin’s daughter could be in danger.In between those calls, Officer Joshua Ellender discovered Griffin wandering on East Street barefoot but wearing a backpack. Appearing calm, Griffin told the officer that he had merely gone for a walk to an all-night pharmacy to get medication, and he accepted a ride home.
Back on Ware Street, one of the homeowners approached the cruiser and told the officer about the note. According to the officer’s report, Ellender asked Griffin if he had hurt anyone, and he replied: “Yes. . . . She’s gone, I had to save her, I killed my little girl.’’
Griffin, with blood staining his cheek and chin, shouted that he wanted to die, banged his head against the police cruiser’s glass, and begged to be shot, Ellender wrote. Griffin handed over the backpack containing the knife he allegedly used to kill his daughter and told police she could be found in the basement of the Chilson Avenue home.
At the same time, other officers were on their way to the yellow, two-family house. When they arrived, the child’s mother told them she thought the girl was asleep in bed. But police found her under a blanket in the basement, her throat slit, O’Neill said.
Taken to the station for booking, Griffin asked police if Massachusetts had the death penalty. Told it did not, he became disconsolate and tried to hit his head against the wall, prompting officers to handcuff Griffin to a bar to prevent him from harming himself, police said.
His clothing removed for evidence, Griffin appeared in an open-backed johnny yesterday in Taunton District Court, under the jurisdiction of Attleboro District Court, which was displaced from its own courthouse by a fire. At 5-foot-5, the 235-pound Griffin was dwarfed by the court officers who flanked him.
O’Neill, the Mansfield chief, said Griffin had no record of violence in the seven or eight years since he moved to the area from Florida.
But criminal records in that state show Griffin was arrested in 1999 by the Jacksonville sheriff’s office on an aggravated-assault charge for a reported domestic incident, but the charge was apparently dropped.
A spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families said she could not comment on whether the department had been involved with the family.

TAVARES – A 35-year-old man has been arrested on allegations he sexually molested a now-10-year-old girl, including at least once in front of other children.
James Forrest McDonald, of Leesburg, was charged with three counts of sexual battery, two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition, lewd and lascivious molestation and distribution of harmful material to someone under the age of 18.
He is being held without bail in the Lake County jail on the battery charge.
According to an arrest affidavit, McDonald was accused of raping the child on a number of occasions, showing her pornographic movies and, on one occasion, drawing black dots on her pubic area in front of other children to pretend she had hair there.
The charges were based on the girl’s allegations, and the affidavit adds that a physical examination confirmed her accusations.
The affidavit adds the child’s mother has not been charged and the Department of Children and Family returned the girl to her mother, although sheriff’s detectives said there was reason to believe she knew about the abuse and failed to protect the child.
The girl apparently told investigators her mother told her the sex acts were just a dream. The mother told investigators she didn’t know whether to believe her child. Sheriff’s deputies added they feared the mother likely wouldn’t protect the child if McDonald is released.
According to the affidavit, McDonald denied the allegations, telling the detectives that the girl must have learned some of the things she accused him of in her sex education classes at school.
The detective responded that some of the things the victim mentioned aren’t covered in sex education classes.

He failed to turn up for his interview with Carlisle Cleaning – who are contracted by the Tesco store in Dumfries.
Local Labour MSP Elaine Murray said it was “suspicious” that Carruthers – who was freed from prison last September – had applied for a post working with women.

She added: “He is not supposed to be around women under the terms of his release. He knows that, so why is he applying for Tesco?
“I can understand that he wants to work – but not in a supervisor’s job where he could abuse his powers again.”
Carruthers was jailed for 12 years and kicked out of the Dumfries and Galloway force after his conviction in May 2001.
Another 38 women later claimed he had raped, attacked or harassed them during his 20-year career.
But Carruthers refused to take part in prison sex offender rehabilitation programmes, admit his guilt or show any remorse.
His sentence was cut by 12 months on appeal – and he served just seven years before his release. He was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.
At the time The Scottish Sun revealed how police warned his victims he may strike again.
Support group Rape Crisis Scotland last night warned he is STILL a danger. A spokesman said: “Safety of women should always be paramount in the employment of convicted sex offenders.
“As a rapist who has shown no remorse Adam Carruthers is clearly a danger.”
Carruthers was put under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements on his release – where police, social workers and the prison service manage offenders in the community.
A MAPPA spokesman declined to comment.
A Tesco spokesman confirmed: “We use an agency to do cleaning.” Nobody at Carlisle Cleaning was available for comment.
Carruthers applied for the job as he awaits an appeal to get his full police pension reinstated. It was cut 65 per cent on his conviction.

Conway, S.C. - Edward Jacob Bilton, a 38-year-old South Carolina man is accused of beating a woman and her son, attempting to burn their house to the ground, and strangling a cat.
Horry County Police claim Bilton succeeded in killing the family’s cat but failed to destroy the house.
According to his arrest affidavit, Bilton wreaked havoc on Saturday night at the home where he was the live-in boyfriend of a woman with a young son.
Police were alerted to a domestic dispute, where they found the house partially covered in gasoline. Entering the residence, they were met with the hysterical woman, who charged her boyfriend with a litany of crimes.
The victims claim it all started when Bilton screamed at the boy for playing too many video games. The woman attempted to intervene in the argument, but Bilton began choking her. When the child stood up for his mother, he allegedly got a severe beating about the face.
Bilton then left the residence and acquired a can of gasoline, and he proceeded to douse the house with it, yelling that he was about to burn it down. It is not clear why he stopped there or when the family cat was killed.
Bilton, who is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County, is charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, attempted arson, ill treatment of animals/animal cruelty, and assault and battery.

FAYETTEVILLE, TN (WAFF) – The suspect taken to custody after a mass homicide that killed six people in two counties has been arrested on murder charges.
Jacob Lee Shaffer, 30, from Huntsville, was charged with five counts of Criminal Homicide in connection to the slayings by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. He is reported to have confessed to the homicides.
Lincoln County, TN authorities confirmed that five people were found shot to death in two different homes on South Lincoln Road on Saturday morning. They also confirmed that a sixth person related to the Lincoln County deaths was also found dead at a Huntsville business.
Lincoln County Sheriff Murray Blackwelder said at a news conference late Saturday afternoon that his department is investigating three crime scenes.
“This is one of the worst crimes Lincoln County has ever seen,” Blackwelder said. “And it’s a tremendous crime scene.”
TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm said Shaffer was found on the front porch of one of the Lincoln County homes when deputies arrived at the scene.
“At about 10:30 a.m., our department received information from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sgt. Mickey Allen with Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crime Unit. “They apparently have a person in custody who has confessed to several homicides there. He also confessed to a homicide here in Huntsville also. Officers were sent to this location and that has been confirmed.”
Huntsville police officials said officers found the sixth person dead at Hall Cultured Marble and Granite on 1112 Orchard Street late Saturday morning. It is not yet known if the person was killed at that location or elsewhere.
“Apparently the information led right to [the Huntsville business], and very explicit details and the officers were able to locate the victim,” Allen said. “We have no clue as yet of what unfolded there and how it relates to here.”
Neither Blackwelder or Allen indicated whether investigators have determined a motive in the slayings.
Authorities did not release the victims’ ages. But Karon Weatherman, who lives about a half-mile away from the Tennessee homes, said she saw children as young as 4 and 5 running back and forth between the houses across the road from each other.
One of the Tennessee homes was once a skating rink that was converted into a duplex, said Weatherman. She did not know the family but said they moved in earlier this year in the area of mostly rental houses.
“I wouldn’t expect nothing like this to happen,” she said.
All phone numbers listed in Huntsville under Jacob Shaffer’s name had been disconnected. He is currently being held without bond at the Lincoln County Jail.

TULSA, OK – Tulsa Police are looking for help in finding Kenneth McCurley, a 23-year-old white male accused of setting his girlfriend on fire Friday afternoon.
“He threw gasoline on her and lit her on fire,” said Public Information Officer Bill French with the Tulsa Fire Department. French said that the woman was alive as of about 4:10 p.m. Friday, according to the chief fire investigator.
The 33-year-old woman is suffering from second and third degree burns over at least 80% of her body after an apparent domestic abuse incident at what she says is an operating meth lab. She told Tulsa Fire investigators that she was arguing with McCurley when he threw a chemical on her and set her on fire.
She is in critical condition at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. She was able to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived at 1:20 p.m., according to Officer Jason Willingham of the Tulsa Police Department.
Police found some components for manufacturing meth inside the house in the 300 block of East 4th St., though they are not calling it an active meth lab at this time.
Tulsa Police say the boyfriend was not in the house when they gained entry to the house, wearing hazardous materials masks and equipment.
The woman was on the front porch when firefighters arrived just after 1 p.m., according to Public Information Officer Bill French with the Tulsa Fire Department.
She told firefighters that her boyfriend had poured gasoline on her and that he was inside the house cooking meth, French said. She had burns from the neck down, according to the report.

Hundreds of Yemen onlookers crowd the streets, waiting for the public execution of a man who raped an 11-year-old boy. The public execution is carried out in all it’s graphic detail while the crowd taunts and cheers along the roadway.
With a doctor standing by, al-Raghwah was allowed to say a short prayer before his hands are bound behind him and he is laid face down on a red cloth. Within minutes, the executioner straddles the convict, points his rifle, and delivers Yemen justice to the man’s head. He is then declared dead, wrapped in the red blanket and removed for burial.
According to Yemen authorities, the alleged victim came into al-Raghwah’s barber shop last December and never left alive. al-Raghwah allegedly raped the boy and then cut his body into pieces.
After the barber “reportedly” admitted to the crime, a Yemeni court sentenced him to death. The execution was carried out on Monday. Images of the gruesome execution were released shortly thereafter.
According to sharia law, relatives of an alleged murder victim have the right to pardon the offender’s crime in exchange for compensation in some cases. Here, it’s apparent the alleged victim’s family were in no such mood. They opted for the bullet.

CHESNEE — An 8-year-old girl who wanted to spend Wednesday afternoon swimming was brutally shot to death by the estranged husband of her father’s girlfriend, authorities say.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office plans to charge 50-year-old Ricky Lee Blackwell, of 248 Ridings Road, with murder and kidnapping once he recovers from surgery.
Officials said Blackwell grabbed the child, put her in a headlock and shot her once in the head not far from his double-wide mobile home. The man proceeded to shoot her at least three more times as she was falling to the ground, and perhaps while she was on the ground, Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said.
The tragedy occurred about 3 p.m. on 244 Ridings Road — a narrow road in a rural area of Spartanburg County not far south of Highway 11 between Chesnee and New Prospect. A few mobile homes are the only dwellings on the road.
Blackwell and his wife used to live together on Ridings Road, though the two are now separated. Their adult daughter lives in a unit nearby, at 244 Ridings Road — the scene of the crime.
Blackwell’s estranged wife brought her boyfriend’s child, Heather, to 244 Ridings Road Wednesday afternoon to go swimming.
“When she got here, her estranged husband showed up — he lives next door — I don’t know if he saw her pull in, if he knew she was coming or what,” said Master Deputy Tony Ivey with the Sheriff’s Office said. “That’s when everything took place.”
Heather Brooke Center, 8, of 981 Lightwood Knot Road in Woodruff, died from a gunshot wound to the head, Clevenger said. He called the shooting “heinous.”
Deputies were dispatched to the scene just before 3 p.m., a criminal domestic violence call.
They arrived and saw the girl, Heather, lying facedown in a driveway. She had a gunshot wound in one leg, a pool of blood in the center of her back, and blood coming from her right ear, according to an incident report. She did not show any signs of life.
Witnesses said Blackwell fled into the nearby woods. Investigators arrived and began searching for him.
Blackwell emerged and shot himself in the side, Sheriff Chuck Wright said. When asked whether that was an attempt at suicide, Wright said he thought so.
“Once our officers got on the scene, people here, at the home, began to point in the direction of Ricky’s home and said, ‘He’s that way.’ That’s when deputies began sweeping the area,” Ivey said.
Deputies had their guns drawn and ordered the man to drop his weapon. He wouldn’t, Ivey said. They did not fire at Blackwell, Wright said.
Late Wednesday, Blackwell was just out of surgery. Wright said investigators wanted to make sure he was fully coherent before they interviewed him so there would be “no excuses” later on.
How long Blackwell and his estranged wife have been separated wasn’t immediately clear.
“It’s a bad scene,” Wright said. “You have a baby who is deceased who had nothing to do with it. It’s pitiful.”
Neighbors, who asked not to be identified, said they rarely heard any commotion from the residences over on Ridings Road.
“He must have just lost it,” one neighbor said. “I really don’t know why he done what he done. But in my mind, Ricky has always been a fine man.”

Russia’s Supreme Court has upheld the verdict in the high-profile killing of a nine-year-old Tajik girl in 2004.
In March, seven defendants were found guilty of hooliganism and one of them was found not guilty of murder.
Khursheda Sultonova died of 11 knife wounds in St Petersburg after being attacked by a group of teenagers.
The seven teenagers were given jail terms of 18 months to five-and-a-half years. Prosecutors and defence lawyers appealed against the verdict.
The jury also rejected prosecution claims that the attack in February in 2004 was ethnically motivated.
Ethnic minority activists in Russia have raised concerns that the ruling could provoke more attacks by racists who think they can act with impunity.
Russia has recently witnessed a series of attacks targeting foreigners and representatives of ethnic minorities. Some of the attacks were fatal.
Dissatisfaction
“The panel of judges ruled to uphold the verdict delivered by the St Petersburg City Court on 30 May to seven defendants,” said the Supreme Court’s ruling, quoted by Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency.
The court also dismissed requests by both sides to hold a retrial, without further elaboration.
Prosecutors had been pressing for a retrial, arguing that “the jury sympathised” with the defendants, Itar-Tass reported.

Glenn Rycroft, a former British Airways steward who once tricked friends out of more than £200,000 by falsely claiming he needed life-saving cancer treatment, met Gareth MacDonald through an Internet chatroom.
The 30-year-old care worker left his wife and children for the compulsive liar, but after discovering Rycroft was secretly stealing money from his bank account he angrily branded him a ‘f***ing conman’.
Realising he had been exposed, Rycroft – said by friends to have compared himself to Tom Ripley, the gay fantasist who goes on a killing spree in 1950s Italy – searched websites on methods of murder before battering Mr MacDonald to death with a fire extinguisher.
Full details about the 33-year-old’s cheating ways were revealed today after a judge labelled him ‘dishonest, deceitful and utterly cold-hearted’ as he ordered him to serve at least 25 years of a life sentence.
Rycroft was working for BA in 2003 when he callously duped friends and relatives out of their life savings by lying that he was dying of a brain tumour, using the money to enjoy a life of luxury.
The smooth-talking conman shaved his head to fit his account that he was undergoing chemotherapy treatment and even used fake blood bought from a joke shop to simulate lifelike coughing fits which he blamed on the illness.
Friends in Salford, Greater Manchester organised benefit evenings, while a pensioner who had known him since he was a toddler handed over £20,000.
But in reality he was perfectly healthy and used the money to rent a luxury house and go on 11 exotic foreign holidays in just over a year.
Murder hotel: Rycroft bashed his lover over the head at this TravelodgeArrogant Rycroft even took sympathetic friends on stays at five star hotels in North America and Australia and a luxury golfing trip to the Algarve, telling them he had travelled there for treatment.
Eventually his lies were exposed after one became suspicious and discovered the specialist he claimed to be seeing didn’t exist, and in December 2003 he admitted fraud and was jailed for four years.
But his disgusted friends had no idea how far he would take his interest in the conman-turned-killer played by Matt Damon in the 1999 adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel.
‘Glenn watched the film and went on and on about how much he loved it and thought there was something of Mr Ripley in him,’ said one. ‘None of us realised how capable he was of doing of what he did.’
On his release in 2005, Rycroft went on a gay chatroom called Fitlads and met Mr MacDonald, who was happily married to his childhood sweetheart who was expecting their third child.
Impressed by his wealthy lifestyle – Rycroft claimed to have received a £125,000 advance from a book publisher for his life story – MacDonald broke the news to his wife that he was gay, and left the marital home in North Wales.
But despite the lavish gifts and expensive meals, Rycroft was back to his old ways – the house was rented, and the car was leased.

Then Mr MacDonald discovered Rycroft was stealing money from his account and sent a furious text message: ‘I never want to hear from you again, you are the f***ing conman people think you are, get out of my life.’
Rycroft set about a violent revenge, with police later discovering he had searched the Internet using phrases such as ‘how to kill’ and ‘can blows to the head kill’.
Two weeks after sending the text, Mr MacDonald agreed to travel to London to help Rycroft repay debts to relatives.
But while they were staying at a Travelodge at Heston services on the M4 near Heathrow airport on September 15, 2007 he was attacked and killed using a 17lb fire extinguisher.
Rycroft claimed he had left Mr MacDonald alone with a rent boy who must be the killer, but blood spatters were found on his shoes and his fingerprints on the murder weapon.
After he was convicted of murder at the Old Bailey, Mr MacDonald’s mother Susan said in a statement read to the court: ‘To learn Gareth was taken in such a horrendous way by someone we trusted and made welcome in to our house is still unthinkable.
‘Gareth was not only my son but also my friend and I miss him so much. It is such a waste.’
Today Judge Timothy Pontius jailed him for life and ordered he serve a minimum of 25 years.
He told Rycroft he had inhabited a ‘fantasy world of your own warped imaginings’, adding: ‘You are not only a thoroughly dishonest and deceitful man but also a wholly unscrupulous and utterly coldhearted one.’

Jenson Beach, Florida – Sometimes you just got to have a cigarette and sometimes people around you, like John Jeffrey Murray, a 51-year-old Jensen Beach, Florida man will take you to task for it.
Murray was arrested on domestic battery charges after allegedly dousing his wife with a blast from a hose, then hitting her in the mouth when she tried to light up.
According to an affidavit from Martin County Police, Murray and his unnamed wife began arguing on Saturday night over his wife’s nicotine addiction and her smoking in the house.
The victim claims that Murray yelled at her and then hit her with a stream of water from the house, soaking her. She then proceeded to pick up a nearby telephone, allegedly only to phone a friend, but Murray became concerned that she would call the police and he reached for the phone.
According to reports, Murray accidentally struck his wife in the mouth with his elbow in the ensuing struggle. Martin County deputies arrived to find the soaked wife lying on the lawn and Murray casually watering the lawn, according to the arrest affidavit.
The accused claimed that he had only been watering the grass and the soaking was an accident. He used the term “over spray” to describe the incident.Murray was charged at the Martin County Jail and has been released on bond.
Uefa tightens anti-racism rules

Uefa has given referees the power to abandon matches in the event of racist chanting inside a stadium.
European football’s governing body has implemented a three-step procedure that comes into force with immediate effect.
The referee should first demand over the public address system that fans’ racist behaviour should stop.
The next step is to suspend the match for up to 10 minutes with the teams sent to the dressing room. If that does not work, the game should be abandoned.
Uefa president Michel Platini said there would be no compromise in his organisation’s stance against racism in football.
“Our policy on racism is one of zero tolerance,” said Platini.
“It was necessary to give the pitch people the means to do something, and we have determined the parameters and lines of conduct, whereby in important cases of racist behaviour in a stadium, a referee must stop the match.
“There are people of authority such as the referee and match delegate who can consult before deciding to temporarily suspend a match for five or 10 minutes, in agreement with officials responsible for security – and from then, if the atmosphere remains negative, the match must be stopped.”
Platini first revealed plans to abandon matches in April of this year after Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli was racially abused by Juventus fans.
The Italian authorities ordered Juve to play their next home league game behind closed doors.

Ferris Eugene Mallo, 29, was wanted on three counts each of first-degree sexual assault and burglary, according to Charleston police.
He turned himself in to Nitro police about 2:30 p.m., according to a release from that department.
Police say he broke into his ex-wife’s home a raped her.
Mallo’s arrest is the latest police action in a string of arrests that could be related to the death of 82-year-old Phyllis Jean Phares.
On Wednesday, officers arrested a 14-year-old in the death of Phares. Police said the suspect is not related to the victim.
On Thursday, Charleston Police Sergent Autumn Davis announced that 67-year-old Alexander Mallo, his wife, 55-year-old Carolyn Mallo, and their daughter 27-year-old Trina Mallo had been taken into custody.
They were charged with child neglect creating risk of injury, which is a felony. The victims were two juveniles who were family members.
The Mallos lived across the street from Phares and neighbors living in the area said they were relatives of the boy accused of killing Phares.
Davis said the Mallo’s home was in “deplorable” condition and “unfit for human living.” She said the home was filled with cockroaches and broken glass. She also said there were prescription drugs, knives and swords within reach of the children who lived there.
Davis refused to say if the Mallos were related to the suspect.
Charleston police were called to Phares’ home on the 1300 block of Frame Street about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

US pastor opens church to guns

A pastor in the US state of Kentucky told his flock to bring handguns to church in what he said was an effort to promote safe gun ownership.
Pastor Ken Pagano told parishioners to bring their unloaded guns to New Bethel Church in Louisville for a service celebrating the right to bear arms.
He said he acted after church members voiced fears the Obama administration could tighten gun control laws.
When the service began, some 200 people were present, AP news agency said.
“We are wanting to send a message that there are legal, civil, intelligent and law-abiding citizens who also own guns,” Mr Pagano told the congregation.
“If it were not for a deep-seated belief in the right to bear arms, this country would not be here today,” he said.

The pastor also held a handgun raffle, as well as providing information on gun safety.
“I wish more churches did this, I wish more people did this,” the Louisville Courier-Journal quoted one attendee, Doreen Rogers, as saying.

About 10 members of a private local militia also attended, the Courier-Journal said.
A coalition of religious groups and campaigners held a rival gun-free event at the same time on the other side of Louisville.
“The idea of wearing guns to churches or any sacred space I think many people find deeply troubling,” organiser Terry Taylor told AP.
In the US, the right to bear arms is enshrined in the Second Amendment of the US Constitution. There are thought to be more than 200 million firearms in private hands.
But some gun owners fear that the new administration in the White House could try to challenge or amend some gun ownership laws.
Critics of the laws, meanwhile, link high levels of gun crime with high levels of gun ownership.

LEX 18 News has learned new information about a Madison County man charged with abusing his girlfriend’s child, even forcing him to eat his own feces as a form of punishment.
Investigators say the child’s father alerted them to the abuse when he took the four-year-old for the weekend and noticed bruises on his forehead, back and arms. Craig Shearer, 32, is charged with abusing the boy inside their home on College Hill Road in Waco.
Police say the child was left Shearer’s care sometimes 12 or 14 hours or longer at a time, and say they think that’s probably when most of the abuse, which they say including forcing the child to eat his own feces and drink his own urine as punishment for bathroom accidents.
Police say it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when the alleged abuse occurred because of the age of the victim and the types of injuries, but say the abuse happened on at least two occasions.
Police say they’ve dealt with Shearer before, as he has previously been convicted of assault and being in possession of meth.
Investigators also say the boy’s 18-month-old sister has injuries as well, but so far doctors can’t determine if those injuries are accidental.
Police say the boy recovering and is in his father’s custody.
Wrestler Brian Blair goes to jail on child abuse charges

Tampa, Florida — Brian Leslie Blair, a 52-year-old – former Hillsborough County Commissioner, was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly spent Father’s Day punching his two sons.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Blair pushed his 17 year old son at around 4 a.m. Sunday morning. When his son tried to walk away, Blair reportedly grabbed him, punched him in the face and then placed him in a choke hold.
Investigators say Blair then went after his 13-year-old son, grabbing him by the throat and then punching him in the head.
Prior to his career as County Commissioner, Blair rose to fame in the 1980’s as a wrestler with the World Wrestling Federation. He entertained as a tag-team duo known as the “Killer Bees”.
Blair claims his wrestling career came to an end on the evening of June 2, 2001, when he visited a Florida restaurant with his wife and two sons.
After taking his sons to the restroom, Blair reportedly tripped over a tray of dirty dishes left in “a poorly lit area,” according to his complaint.
“It knocked the dog doo-doo out of me,” Blair recounted in a deposition.
He launched a lawsuit against the restaurant just days after he lost his first bid for County Commissioner. He claimed the restaurant was liable for his career-ending injuries. The restaurant was ready, however, to introduce videos into evidence showing Blair wrestling in Japan after the fall. Both parties eventually settled the case.
Now he’s knocking the “doo-doo” out of his sons, according to police.
Blair was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on two counts of child abuse – domestic violence. As of Monday morning, he remains in custody without bond.

Dramatic footage has been released of two women protesters being bundled to the ground after asking a policeman for his identification number.
The video shows one of the climate change protesters being held by the throat by a police officer.
The footage shot by police, who were policing the protest at the Kingsnorth power station in Kent last August, has been handed to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, according to the protesters.

She insists he does and asks her fellow protester, Val Swain, 43, a mother of three from Cornwall, to take a picture of the officer. Moments later both are dragged to the floor and put in the stress position.
Mrs Apple, a mother of one from Cardiff, told The Guardian newspaper, which obtained the footage, that within seconds of her request she had been thrown to the floor.
‘The first shot she [Mrs Swain] tried to take was blocked by the officer and the second shot she was grabbed and bundled across the road,’ Mrs Apple said. ‘Within seconds I was also on the floor being restrained.’
When told she is being arrested, Mrs Swain cries out: ‘Arrested for what? Taking a photograph?’
The footage also shows the officer holding her by the throat and pulling her head up, seemingly to show her face to the camera. Mrs Swain is later shown having her legs bound and being carried into the back of a police van by several officers.
The video also shows officers applying pressure to stress points on the women’s body as fellow protesters are heard in background demanding to know why they are being arrested.
Both women insist they were deliberately targeted by officers for their involvement in Fit Watch, an organisation which opposes heavy-handed policing and surveillance filming.
The pair were held for four days after being arrested for obstructing police officers but were eventually released without charge, they claim.
A spokesman for the IPCC said last night that the video had not yet been received.
‘Today is the first I have heard of the video. But we will look at anything that comes to us,’ said Trish Keville, IPCC press officer.
West Yorkshire Police could not be reached last night and a Kent Police spokesman said he did not know how the video, shot by police officers, ended up with the Guardian.
